OT: Reiss Leaving BSPN (EDIT: False Alarm)

Seems clear-cut that he is leaving? No?

Granted why he doesn't come out and say he is leaving ESPN is curious.

Doesn't say that at all. He clearly gave the reason why some fans will disconnect with him for a few months if the Patriots lose. He really wasn't oblique at all about it.

I share your aspiration for him, though. Reiss at ESPN is like watching Tom Brady playing for the Jets.

It's a matter of whether you read what's on the surface, or think there's something to read between the lines.

It is a curious thing for Reiss to post to his personal site. But I thought it had more to do with the personal nature of the stories, talking about his kids and how this team connects them together.

Maybe he is leaving. I wish he would. But I didn't see that in the post.

Yea the personal website threw me off.

He's not going anywhere.

Yea the personal website threw me off big time.

You might be right though. I wouldn't be surprised if that was the case. Maybe ESPN has told him this is his last year. They don't want or need real journalists, and a guy like Reiss isn't as loud and annoying as they want.

It wouldn't surprise me one bit. They'd probably get Bart Scott or Marshall Faulk to be the new Patriots beat writer. What a cluster**** of an organization.

It WOULD be a good career move for Mike to leap off that sinking financial boat that is ESPN. I hope he lands somewhere stable so he can prosper for many years to come. They don't come any better than Mike Reiss.

I think that's just another sad part of how the site's changed. He used to do mailbags, chats, all kinds of things to stay connected to readers.

Now it all has to be part of the ESPN machine, so I don't think he's able to get personal like that there.

The chats w Bruschi were gold. Mailbags too.

The chats with Bruschi was my favorite. Of course since it was so good, BSPN had to ruin it.

I don't blame you for jumping the gun at the prospect of Reiss leaving that **** rag. I'd have done the same.

Meanwhile, his quick hit thoughts was one of his best- managed to get a few potshots at Goodell that got past the BSPN censors.

Also the below point makes me feel good about tonight:

We've reached the point where there has been so much analysis of Super Bowl LI, it's almost too much, but here is one thing that might have been overlooked and could be a big factor in the game: How the contrasting philosophies the Patriots and Atlanta Falcons have with full-pads practices manifests itself in the game.

The Patriots practiced almost once a week in full pads right up through Wednesday of Super Bowl week. Meanwhile, the last time the Falcons were in full pads was more than two months ago.

To some, that is a tell-tale sign that the Patriots will be the more fundamentally-sound tackling team, as well as the more physical squad that will ultimately pound the Falcons into submission. To others, it means the Falcons will be flying around and playing free, built to last in a longer-than-usual game that could be as long as 4½ hours from start to finish (when including warm-ups and halftime).

No it seems like he is referring to the 2016 Patriot team.

All kidding aside, embracing the journey has become a big part of life for me in every aspect, and I'm glad I decided to start living this way. Don't know why it took so long...

With that said, if the Pats lose tonight, I'm breaking every chair and table at the bar, getting arrested and then fighting all the losers in the place like Christian Bale in Batman Begins.
