OT: Official 2021 Tompa Bay Gronkaneers Thread

I can think of one big reason to go pay Gronk, his contract which obligates the Bucs to pay him.
Love AB being targeted but Gronk's role is totally different. Blocking, major Red Zone target, etc.

Ya I’m all for leaving Gronk to block and using him like last year than unleash him in January

Back to Bowles and his blitzing again.

Blitz - 18/22, 173 yards, TD, 7.9 ypa, 114.6 rating
No Blitz - 13/18, 102 yards, TD, INT, 5.7 ypa, 81.3 rating

Patriots fans spend all year saying that every other team sucks, that no other team's wins are good enough, and that the Patriots are just X number of plays away from being undefeated. And, Patriots fans think that every other team's uninspiring win is proof that they suck, while every Patriots uninspiring win is proof that the team is gritty and fighting.

Having Brady as the difference maker for almost 20 years has completely changed the fan base in that sense.

Brady would change any fan base. He has always exponentially had that "it" factor. It's contagious to the players around him and the fans.

It's going to take awhile for the new normal to set in around here although, personally, I'm enjoying it. I like this new Mac Jones era and I still get to see Brady do his magic. Win win.

Tampa just has no secondary left. I am shocked the pats could not score 20 points when they have been giving up over 30.

Bucs defense gave up 17 points AND under 300 yards. It shouldn’t have been a close game.

So does that opening week win against the Cowboys now look pretty impressive?

I think they're going to play like that moving forward keep everything in front of then and hope the front 4 can get to the QB. But they do tighten up in the redzone

I don't know what to make of the Cowboys...they looking good but I just can't take them seriously

They need to start to allow teams to run a little. They are the most thrown against team. You can’t do that with that secondary

Right which is what I said. I am surprised that the Pats offense could not score more on a defense giving up a lot of points.

I still say the NFC West is Russell Wilson's division to lose until proven otherwise! The Cards are definitely legit this season though!
AJ Green leading that team in yards, 2nd in TDs. I thought he was too old and washed up. Lol

I was reading '3 corners for the Buccaneers to target in trades after Week 4' on FanSided for iOS and I thought you might be interested in reading it too.

Interesting and I think they’d have to part with Atleast a second round pick for any of them. If I were Tampa I’d do it though getting any of the three can make there defense too 5 again as Carlton davis would start defending WR2’s instead when he returns.
With what money? They have about $3M in cap and extended almost everyone already. Sherman was their CB because he was cheap.

BA said the other guys have to step up. They're not facing a good QB until Allen late in the season. I don't see it happening. If the O can play to their potential they'll continue to win.

Some of you may be wondering why I've posted about Brate a couple of times. Here's why

Because of Brown (failed virus test) and Gronk (ribs, lung), Brate's gone from a 1/3 of the snaps guy to a 2/3 of the snaps guy. He can't play like he did last night when he's the TE1.
He'll be fine. He caught 82% of passes last season. He's got good hands. Him and Brady were just off in that game.

He has every intangible you want and looks great, but the team is averaging 18 ppg. Not everything should be blamed on his shortcomings, but good luck establishing a run game and keeping defenses from blitzing when there’s no perceived threat past 15 yards downfield. If this is his ceiling, he’s an ideal backup quarterback or maybe could get on a stacked team like Alex Smith. Hope it isn’t his ceiling and it’s more of a confidence or gameplan issue. But there’s no way after four games this is a personnel problem for having almost zero big plays…and very few attempts.
We have to give him more than 4 games before drawing any conclusions. Four of the top 5 offensive players are new to this system. They need time to gel.

I'm not. Pats offense scares nobody in this league right now. No running game, serious offensive line problems and a rookie QB who either has the reins on him or just won't (or can't?) take shots downfield to exploit anyone's secondary.

I agree but Agahlor has been open a ton down the field as have our other receivers. I don't know what is making him gun shy but I agree with Ice in that defenses are just going to sit in the box all game if there is no threat of a ball beyond 15 yards. We are 26th in points scored. He does not seem to have any chemistry issues throwing the ball short which is also interesting. There is just something about go deep. Maybe his arm strength? His confidence? I don't know but these next 2 games are a good chance to let him rip it.

IF the DBs will be out for the year, BA should play the long game (playoffs) and consider a trade for a decent DB.
