What the hell is the point of blitzing against an immobile QB, when Vea and Suh collapse the pocket on their own? Just a bunch of guys ramming into each other. Jesus…this was the problem all last year until they smartened up in the postseason. They should have 5-6 defensive backs out there since Vea, Suh, White and David give you so much scheme flexibility.
I think Bowles is a good DC but stubbornly sticks with his lifelong defensive philosophy, despite the Bucs actual personnel calling for something different.
The injuries hurt them, but their CBs were never great anyway, so the dropoff isn’t that remarkable. They still have all their key players and shouldn’t be this bad, but for Bowles further exposing the secondary by bringing way too much heat way too often. Teams know they just need to slow down the pass rush and the Bucs are toast.
