OT: Official 2020 Tompa Bay Gronkaneers Thread

2019 failure on offense was not because they didn't go all in, it was because Bill built it on a bunch of gambles that didn't pay off.

Josh Gordon, couldn't stay clean.

1st Rd pick Wr was a bust and Harry wasn't a reach because it was widely reported that Arizona wanted him at #33. Harry had the size and in college was good after the catch. I still wanted AJ Brown over him but didn't hate the pick at the time.

Demarius Thomas had nagging injuries, looked good in the final preseason game but became a casualty when AB became available.

AB enough said.

Phillip Dorset looked great as the #4 option but failed when needed to do more.

Injuries to the Oline also played a role.

Just watch the first few games of the season and you see a much more competent offense then what was on the field later on.
Signing guys like Gordon, serious substance abuse issues, and Thomas, well past his prime, to cheap contracts was not going all in. AB fell into their laps When he basically crazied his way away from the raiders. They signed him after the season started when their other WR plans fell through. if they had gone after a legit WR before the 2019 season instead of cheap gambles on guys like Gordon and Thomas, they would not have had to look to AB.

The one time they went all in at WR, Brady fell flat in his face in the big one

High ankle sprain combined with losing the starting right tackle to injury and our all-pro guard having the worst game of his life and yet he still gave the defense a 14-10 lead with 2:30 left but yeah it’s all Brady’s fault.

In fact didn’t our 3rd down safety blanket and expert blitz pickup back Kevin Faulk go down at the start of the game as well?

Didn't Evans say he was going to restructure?

Glad they got the kicker done.

As I said, built on gambles. Never said it was wisely done.

They drafted a Wr in the first Rd.

The 2019 FA pool kind of sucked. Especially at WR. Golden Tate and Adam Humphreys were the 2 best options. And they went hard after Humphreys and even outbid the Titans but he choose the Titans.

It was also heavily rumored they tried trading for both OBJ and AB, AB being their top target, only to have both the Steelers and Giants refuse to send the Pats a player that would help them.

The drafting at WR finally did us in. No wonder Brady went to a team stacked at the position.

Weird way of saying he tossed a TD pass to take the lead with 2 minutes left, fighting through injuries and a depleted OL.

That poster is just mad his Brady voodoo doll didn’t work as he went on to win another SB. Cry harder and try harder.

On to those worth talking about...

Love that there’s no contention/drama here with the franchise tag. Still crossing fingers a long term deal can be worked out, mainly for cap reasons.

Yep Bill absolutely sucks at drafting Wr.

Drafted Bethel Johnson over Anquon Boldin. Imagine if Brady had Boldin his first 5-10 years in the league.

Drafted Chad Jackson over Greg Jennings. At this point could have given Brady Boldin and Jennings as a duo.

Takes Dropson over Keenal Allen, still pissed.

Takes Harry over AJ Brown, Deebo Samuel and Metcalf.

The worst offense was advice he gave to Demitroff in Atlanta. Demitroff when looking to trade up to #6 for Julio Jones asked Bill's advice. He said he wouldn't do it he could get the same player later in Jon Baldwin.

Bill seems to only look at metrics when it comes to wr instead of looking at finer details like route running and the feel for the game WRs show

I remember being seriously concerned with both Antoine Winfield Jr and then Jordan Whitehead out.
Backups are important. Draft & UDFA targeted position?

Even before this, I thought they needed to address the secondary in the draft.

It was a team effort. A lot of things went wrong.

Also, the other team was coming in super hot.
It's a very similar situation to this SB where Chiefs= NE as the overwhelming favorite with super talent and superior coaching.
Against Bucs = Giant as the super hot team peaking at the right time.
