OT: Official 2020 Tompa Bay Gronkaneers Thread

Of course, us B1G fans who saw him play at Michigan wondered why the heck everyone was so down on him. In retrospect, I really think blind Lloyd Carr screwed him by platooning him with Henson. The football world respected Carr and must have thought his evaluation of Brady was right.

1. The superficial perception is wondering why a senior had to split time with a freshman.
2. In looking back at his Michigan stats, they weren't eye popping and TD/INT ratio wasn't elite. His second Pats season he averaged 190 yards a game and 18TD/12INT. Again he did everything he should have to improve drastically 5 years in a row. But there were reasons why he was passed over 198 times. And kudos to Belichick for keeping a 4th QB then benching his 100M pro bowl QB.

.

I can't think of a worse ending for that fanbase honestly. Brees last year, #2 seed, at home against a Bucs team they owned all season and Brady comes and literally retires him with Brees tossing 3 picks in his worst game of the season. And then after the game Brady is throwing a TD to Brees' son. I mean what a horrific ending to his career.

Not to mention the last 2 soul crushing defeats in the playoffs to the Rams and Vikings

That was a different era though. The B1G was like the SEC back then. You played defense hard.

For instance, when Brady beat Penn State with that big comeback he had to go against LaVar Arrington, Courtney Brown, Jimmy Kennedy, Brandon Short, etc. Ohio State and Wisconsin were loaded too. Not much scoring. Things have really changed in college ball, and not for the better.

I hear ya. I'm a big proponent of a QB from the best conference. Michigan was a recent champion when Brady joined. Montana was at Notre Dame when it was a powerhouse. Alabama was a powerhouse when Mac Jo-- oops I spoke too soon.

I still don't think bucs offense is efficient.Brady is bound to throw too many bad balls in the Superbowl, then we'll Watch Arian blame him in the post game for the loss.
Which would be ironic seeing as if it weren’t for Brady, Mr. Biscuit doesn’t coach a Super Bowl.

You have to score and score a lot. The last time they played the Chiefs got 27. If they Bucs can replicate that they will win as their offense is light years better now than it was then. You put all the pressure on Mahomes to have to score like they did vs GB and then wait for the mistakes to happen. They are not a team used to trailing so you have to get out in front of them.
Yes you need at least 30. Getting Vea back is huge and Chiefs are down both starting tackles. Mahomes is a wizard but even wizards need protection to hold up now and again.

Fiery interview from Danny.

I believe this will be only the 2nd time a Brady lead team entering the SB will be the underdog. The 1st time being the 1st sb win against the greatest show on turf.

I think being the underdog benefits a team that is just getting better and hotter as the season progresses like the 2 Giant SB teams and a couple of the NE SB teams.

To me, it seems like TB matches very well against Kansas City.

I don't think the KC defense has any lock down corners to stop the TB WRs. I think TB can handle the pass rushers too.

The TB defense, the way they have been playing, is playing opportunistic defense. They will get 2 or 3 takeaways. Imagine 2 top pass rushers and 2 top interior lineman and 2 top linebackers. TB have them. That would be JPP, Shaq, Vea, Suh, Lavonte, and Devon.

These 6 guys are all better than the equivalent NE players. For that matter, they are better than any other team in the league and it isn't close. Mahomes is going to have a rough time, joining Rodgers and Brees and their rough day.

Are the Chiefs the worst defense Brady has faced in a Super Bowl? Serious question. I’d rank the SB opponents like this (going off of the defense reputation going into the game):

1. 2014 Seahawks
2. 2001 Rams
3. 2007 Giants
4. 2003 Panthers
5. 2004 Eagles
6. 2018 Rams
7. 2011 Giants
8. 2017 Eagles
9. 2016 Falcons

Where would they rank here? Similar to the Falcons? Worse?

Thing with the Chiefs defense is they know how to win. They always make a play and they do have studs Honeybadger, Jones, Clark very good defenders
