It absolutely boggles the mind how someone who claims to be a Patriots fan has such hatred and disdain for the greatest QB in franchise history who led the team to 6 Super Bowl Championships. Taking Belichick's side on the Brady vs. Belichick debate is one thing but geez, you really hate the man....

No seriously, sb1... who's your team? Buffalo? ****tsburgh? Green Bay? (Anyone else have any guesses who his team is?)

It's surprising how many responses trolls like that one get here, especially considering how many great posters we have.

If only trolls like that were as simple as cats and dogs.

TB12 got the bride he wanted (validation by getting the cash and a starting job for two years at age 43, plus a few nice weapons) but had to take the mother in law (Arians public bad mouthing, overall lack of discipline, and inferior coaching and organizational skills compared to what he was used to) as a part of the deal. It was the best offer on the table. The "he's the coach" statement is his way of saying he's putting up with the nagging MiL as a part of the deal. Note TB12 did not in any way admit Arians was making valid criticism.

Right now things look ugly, but they should be able to beat CAR decisively this week, and have a relatively easy schedule for a few more weeks, so should be able to get things back on track. Yet IMO it does show the two are not on the same page at this time. Arians should STFU with his public criticisms, but we can't expect Arians to change, he's done that his whole career.

Far more of a concern to me is how flexible Arians is going to be. Is he going to start adjusting the playbook towards Brady's strengths? If not, things will get ugly pretty fast.

It's a supreme irony that Brady left probably the least rigid-thinking coach in the league, in BB. It's just sad that neither of them could work it out for at least another year or two.

Not really.

Brady took less money so BB could have money to spend on good players around Tom. Instead, Brady got Gordon, Dorsett, AB, Ben Watson. Harry is still an enigma.

Bottom line is that bad WR drafting continues to kick the Pats in the nuts. When you draft good WRs, you basically have them on the cheap for a few years. Otherwise youre shelling out 9 million out for an AB or forking up a 2nd round pick for a Sanu.

No offense but I’m pretty sick of hearing this song. BB drafts WRs the way Ozzie did. That’s not bad company. Torrey Smith is pretty much the only good WR Ozzie ever drafted.

When you draft any good player, you have him on the cheap for a few years. You will always have holes somewhere on your team as long as there is a salary cap.

Brady took a few million less per year to stay with a stellar organization too. It gave him a better chance to win than $30m a year with the Browns would have, even though his WR talent might have been better.

Is it sad ? I don’t think it’s sad at all. I love me some Brady, but there is something MUCH sadder than « BB & Brady not being BFFs » : watching Brady struggle to get anything going.

What some posters don’t understand is that you can both (1) love Brady and (2) be ok with him moving on. I wasn’t a fan of the Cam signing, but if he produces like he did last week - he fits this team : defend & run.

BB moving on from Tom OR Tom moving on from BB - it’s good. No sadness. None.

almost like people on here would rather have fewer SBs and more Brady passing titles. It’s beyond ridic. Win. That’s all that matters. And even in a « stinker of a year », NE was a division champ at 12-4....

Youre sick of hearing about the Pats lack of drafted WRs because its true.

Do you actually believe that NE WR situation is good right now?

Brady was here 20 years and the Patriots did not draft 1 NFL HOF WR. Thats a fact. Welker is not getting in. Edelman wasnt a WR at Kent state and he was developed over time. NE has drafted "good" but Branch and Givens is as close as you can come and they were 20 years ago. Mitchell was hurt from the get - go IIRC.

2018 and 2019. Two years in succession where Brady had to play with rejects at WR. NE had to jump on Gordon in 2018 when the Browns wanted to rid themselves of his bull5hit because the Pats were desperate. Again in 2019 NE jumped on AB because the cast around Brady sucked beyond Edelman and White. Pats got burned both times and then got screwed again on Sanu throwing away a 2nd pick for half an NFL seasons of work.

Brady has never been about the money. He could have wanted a Mahomes contract and found plenty of suitors, but he didnt. The deal was less money in NE for more cap space to buy good players. Offense and defense. Brady left because after 20 years of making millionaires out of guys like Branch and BOB, he needs talent out there and not on the job training candidates like Gunner, Meyers, Harry.

Supreme indeed.

Like I said before it’s remarkable how a few “Pats fans” changed their tune over the years. They used to mock Colts fans back in the day for obsessing over Manning’s stats and the Colts for being a bunch of Peyton stat collectors instead of a team that can win- and now as I’m reading here- they wish the Patriots were the same for Brady.

Brady had to have known what he was getting into- he had to be well aware that Arians is an average coach (albeit an above average OC who won a SB with Steelers) that has always shot his mouth off in public when not airing dirty laundry.

I wonder if he valued having all those offensive weapons more than what he was getting in Arians. That snippy remark by Brady was surprising to me, either way. Like, what was he expecting?

I think brady wanted the offensive weapons. And maybe a less strict environment? I still think the downfall of this team is going to be Arians coaching and lack of discipline. How many times have we seen talented teams fall apart due to poor coaching.

I honestly think that if AB hadn't imploded, we'd be looking at a very different scenario right now. He was truly a game changer. That's the one thing I'm most sad about.

If AB didn’t implode at that point in the season it would have been later in the season with the same outcome.

Brady got six rings and nine SB appearances over 20 years. He got what he bargained for.

Who cares if he never had a drafted HOF WR? He had one in Moss. He had a probable drafted HOF TE in Gronk. The Pats offense under BB has never put a premium on WRs, no matter how they acquired them, except when they had Moss and didn’t win the SB.

They got Brown and Sanu to appease Brady. Do you think a guy like Metcalf would have thrived here last year? I don’t. Brady would have screamed at him for running the wrong routes or running them badly or something else because like all young players, he makes mistakes. Lots of them.

Brady was as strict and regimented as they come. It’s no surprise the player love playing with Cam. He doesn’t sulk, yell and blame players who had a few months and a few reps with a playbook he played with for 20 years.

Actually I shouldn't put it that way- he probably was doing the exact same things while a member of the Steelers as well as Raiders, but when he signed with us, he got put under the magnifying glass. So it's partly his implosion, but a good part was just being put right on the spot- one strike and he was out. I felt that was unfair.

One of the biggest myths in sports by far is Brady never having any weapons.

Brady starting again? Gabbert hurt?

That's not the point. The person said that Brady wanted OUT period. He said definitively that this wasn't about the contract offer. I said it was. In other words, the poster and I disagree 100%.
Ok, fine. I think reasonable people can agree it really was about the contract offer / disagreement on value after the '17 season.
It's just sad that neither of them could work it out for at least another year or two.
I think if they had we'd be seeing a replay of last season (or worse since we had so much talent leave and/or opt out), and I was ready to move on.
Bucs 24 Panthers 21
Before Godwin was ruled out the line was Bucs by 9, now it's 8.5. I'm not a gambler but I think you're being a bit pessimistic.

I honestly think going after AB after he did what he did at Oakland was idiocy, one of the low points of the entire BB era. The only good part was how quickly he was shown the door one his bad side resurfaced. We can say we didn't see it coming with the murderer, but you can't with AB. The man simply was unstable.
