The type of selfishness of Brees / Manning is the very reason they have so few SB titles despite the adulation of « experts ».

Does anyone here believe either of those guys would have won in a season like 2018 ? Brady was willing to see that a championship depended on a rising defensive group and emerging running attack. Guy like Brees ? Would’ve changed calls and thrown picks.

Will always respect Brady for putting winning first.
This post is fiyah! Spot on!

Was it? It's hard to say how good the 2007 defense was imo. The offense made their job so much easier. They also did give up 35 to the Giants, 21 to the Dolphins and 28 to the Eagles.
I was not a fan of the 2007 defense. They did, however, give NE a shot at winning the SB. Yes, that awful drive was tough to swallow, but the O should have put that game away way before that point.

I know : the O wasn’t nearly as hot in the winter. In Fall, they were an absolute juggernaut.

Very, very disappointing turn of events, 2007. But, back to the thesis statement, the D was not what it had been 01-03-04. Not even close.

2007 defense benefited from pretty much playing ahead all season because of the GOAT offense. You just never felt that same confidence with them like you did 2003 and 2004.

100%. Most teams ended up having to make up huge leafs after the 1st quarter. Whenever the games were close they became nail biters because the defense wasn’t nearly as stout as the stats said. They did show up against New York, But the Giants weren’t a power offense

Not really. 35 points in week 17 to the 21st ranked passing offense, and the GW drive in the Super Bowl.

Watching the Gronk and Brady videos has made me miss them a little. That will probably get worse when I see them play.

oh for sure..

I think Brady's 2010 season rivals his 2007 season in terms of performance.. It was the 3rd highest scoring offense in NFL history, but Brady "only" threw 36 touchdowns, because they ran the ball in 28 times that year down near the goal line. I haven't watched enough of Brees to say for sure, but I know Manning was notorious for passing it down near the goal line to pad his TDs

Then of course Manning broke the TD record again in that season he was using HGH his pregnant wife was using HGH, while Peyton was coming back from major neck procedure. I'm sure its a coincidence that the next year when the league started to test for HGH, Manning's arm started to look more like Chad Pennington and he retired shortly after.

That offense is so underrated. DVOA has it as the 2nd highest graded offense of all time behind the 2007 Patriots. The defenses that team played was insane.

Yes, the O was very underrated... but Brady still reaped the benefit by being the only unanimous MVP in league history thankfully.

Peter King revealed that during their 14 years grading NFL players, PFF has said the 2019 Pats WR's/TE's were the WORST group they've ever graded since their inception in 2006.

Not the worst the Pats have had, the worst in the entire NFL since they started grading teams/players in 2006.

Brady will be eager to prove the naysayers wrong that he's "done" with his new squad.
