Shocked that they did anything at all. League is run by the Mara's obviously. Goodell is the front man. If the Pats make the SB it better not be the Giants they face...

I hope all those NFL* fans, who were rooting against Brady in court, are beginning to see how damaging to the sport that decision was.

2) Pushing the league to punish the Cowboys and Redskins for spending what they wanted in an uncapped year.
The Cowboys and Redskins got what they deserved, and they weren't even really punished. Going into the uncapped year, the league said:

1) We all know the next CBA will bring back salary caps, so any signing bonuses you give to players this year will hit future caps the same way signing bonuses normally would.

2) If you structure contracts in a way to give a player no signing bonus but an extremely high, guaranteed year-1 salary, we will treat that as a signing bonus, and have it hit the cap in future years accordingly.

The Cowboys gave Miles Austin a deal with no signing bonus, but $17 million fully guaranteed in year 1. Their "punishment" was the league made them count $10 million of that money against the cap in future years.

seriously guys, has anyone expected more? Surprised that few spots 4th round pick back is involved.

I really have no idea why they even bothered.

12 spots in the 4th.....spare me that patronizing.

Gotta wonder what algorithm the NFL* uses that determines that the Pats' "offense" was worth a #1 and #4 pick, along with restrictions against trading for higher picks, while the Giants* offense was limited to a 12 spot maximum devaluation of their 4th round pick.

Inquiring minds would like to know.

There is a concept in computer science called arbitrary-precision arithmetic. It basically says a calculation is made based on the available memory of the system making the actual calculation.

Seeing that Goody has a short memory for every team except the Patriots, that is the reason. Knowing that his brain is the size of a pea, that makes it even more frightening.

I think Goodell's brain has a separate 4TB RAM cache just for dealing with Pats' "offenses", while his native pea brain 64K RAM is dedicated to the rest if the NFL*.

Jets Giants and Steelers never have anything to worry about.

Yea I like your analogy better.

He uses Big Blue for Patriot-related issues and a Apple IIe or a Commodore 64 for everyone else.

Jets Giants and Steelers never have anything to worry about.

Add the Colts, Ravens, and Broncos to the list.

If you looked at PFT yesterday in the comments about it, the Giants fans who commented on it seemed to laugh off the finger pointing at the Giants, like they know the league will never come down hard on them.

My question is how does a team even have a w/t that is available and tuned to the correct frequency? Is this used in practiced to send plays in?
Is the frequency the league uses always the same?
Can a fan scan the frequencies and pick up the benches communication just like the Giants did?

seems like a lot of premeditation for an 'innocent' mistake.

Not that any of that matters, the league has ruled, and that as we know is that.

While it's pretty clear something like this went on it's blatantly illegal. Agreeing with the NFL punishing teams for a backroom, illegal agreement is very close to agreeing with punishing the Patriots for being too good.

No it isn't. You can say it but that don't make it true.
Agreeing with the NFL punishing teams for a backroom, illegal agreement is very close to agreeing with punishing the Patriots for being too good.
It wasn't a backroom, illegal agreement. The owners knew they were going to put this in the new CBA, the players knew they were going to put this in the new CBA, the 2 sides negotiated the issue, the owners made a concession to put it in the new CBA, and David Doty ruled the whole thing was legal.

That's one of the huge benefits of sports CBAs: To take things like collusion and market limitations, which are typically illegal, and make them perfectly legal because they are collectively bargained on and agreed to by the owners and players.

I think I actually hate the Giants more than the Jets now.

I always felt like they earned their SB victories over us so I begrudgingly afforded them respect. But look at the ****ing ******** the Maras have been behind:

1) Laying down heavy punishments on the Pats for not filming from the right location and for using the IGL for our benefit.

2) Pushing the league to punish the Cowboys and Redskins for spending what they wanted in an uncapped year.

3) Josh Brown domestic abuse swept under the rug.

4) Equipment violation one week

5) Using walkie talkies the next.

And that's just off the top of my head. Complete ****ing ***** ****. One set of rules for the Giants another for the rest of the league.

I like you when you're mad.

NFL is a complete fraud - the similarities to DC and the insider lobbyist/elite/establishment gang are mind blowing - 2 sets of rules, different levels of enforcement, back room deals, lying, cheating, cover ups...too bad we can't "drain the swamp" of the league offices in Manhattan and issue a 10 year ban on employees of the two NY based teams....

Sadly, that is an excellent analogy.

Yep. After reading that, I realized that goodell gave the Patriots a penalty that guaranteed they had to be punished at LEAST a certain amount in the draft, and he gave the Giants a penalty that guaranteed they could only be punished at MOST a certain amount in the draft.
