Well we know that Nolan was a great defensive coordinator in Baltimore.
He had guys in positions all over the field switching assignments before the snap.
Playing hard and smart football, not alot of penalties for that defensive unit.
He doesn't have the defensive talent in SF, paying a kings ransom to Nate Clements and paying Tully Banta cain anything more than jag status was a mistake.
You really can't put these decisions on him.
He would of been better off getting Roderick Hood over Nate Clements.
Would of been about 80 percent cheaper.
I like what they have done in the draft the last 2 years getting 2 lb's I was salivating to see on BB's defense.
Trading for a Darrel Jackson was not getting the playmaker the niners badly need at the wideout position.
Vernon Davis has looked like a complete bust, Watson looks more explosive and dare I say has softer hands.
Once again you have to blame the front office on this not Nolan.
A high draft pick can make or break a franchise.
Which is why unless a can't miss prospect is there not a all world talent who just needs coaching, ala Bethel Johnson or Chris Canty is there.
We will more than likely trade down with the pick that they are wrapping up and adding a big bow for us as a late Christmas gift.
The scary thing is this pick can make this Franchise dominant for at least the next 5 years if we use it right.
The difference is the Patriots have Pioli and the Niners have the other guy getting their players.
The first person who will take the blame is the offensive and special teams coaches which has been downright terrible.
I can see especially with the passing of his Father, Mike getting at least another year to right the ship.
Problem is if your handcuffed with a Alex Smith on the cap who won't produce at QB how far can this offense go?
You can only run Frank Gore so much and when there's 8 and 9 people in the box Smith has to find a receiver this is not on Nolan this is the OC and the QB coach who needs to teach this kid, look in a QB town like SF your making a run at unseating Ryan leaf for being the biggest bust in California's state history.
