So if KC is strapped for cash... they trade Allen for a late 1st rounder. They draft Ellis at #5, then they move up with their late 1st rounder and a 3rd round pick to draft Otah or Albert and they have upgraded both sides of the line.

I can assure you that won't happen. We're already looking at another player (Stephen Cooper) getting suspended for violating the banned substance policy (although not steroids - some kind of non performance enhancing stimulant):

I don't KC. They have a ton of cap room even with Allen's franchise tag tender, they only have 56-57 players on the roster, and they were totally inactive in free agency. Now they want to trade one of their best young players?

I think they may be an example of a team suffering because of the CBA affecting a smaller revenue team.

I call BS on that last part nothing against you but KC is anything but Smaller revenue. Have you ever seen Arrowhead? Its never empty and the cheifs have fans all over the country. This is an example of an NFL owner getting greedy and looking at money rather than team which is why they will continue to suck for years to come
