OT: Josh McDaniels Fired

Brady doesn't own a share of the Raiders yet.

"Tom Brady's bid for a minority stake in the Las Vegas Raiders has hit a snag, according to the Washington Post's Mark Maske and Nicki Jhabvala.
Maske and Jhabvala reported the NFL's finance committee has yet to sign off, citing "the discounted price Raiders principal owner Mark Davis is offering Brady."
Interesting, earlier in the season he was at a Raiders game outside the locker room when players were coming out walking out to the field and the pregame show said there’s Brady the minority owner, I’m not surprised they didn’t have the right information.

Interesting timing, both fired after the trade deadline. I wonder if Badhaircut Davis wanted them to do something?

McDaniels cost Davis a ton of money and cap space getting rid of Carr and signing Jimmy. I do think the plan was to bring in Brady and when that fell apart, the Raiders had nothing. I'm sure McDaniels sold Davis on letting Carr go and signing Brady. Instead he got Jimmy, who of course, got hurt.

McDaniels has now crashed and burned twice both within a year and a half. Doesn't bode well for his future HC possibilities.

The 8 head coaches in 12 years is a crazy stat.
I understand Josh was already looking doomed either way, but Davis needs to show some patience in the next hire

wherever he goes only a confident ****y HC takes him on cause Josh has a ton of attitude.
So I like him to the Eagles if Brian Johnson their OC gets a HC job.
we know he’s. Not intimidating Campbell in Detroit either.
If he f_ucks up Hurts hes finished.

No elite GM is taking the job, that’s my point. Organizations that dont give support and freedom to their GMs are not desirable places to work. And if you fail once it’s harder to get another job.

They take the job if Davis behaves as an owner should.
Look at the Red Sox GM search (different sport same principles). They fired three GMs in 8 years, each last four seasons. This time many top candidates turned down interviews.
Different culture. Different situation. Here the owners crave the credit and are evolving into cheapskates.

McD and Ziegler may have wanted to be active at the deadline. Davis may want to play out the season for a draft pick QB in the top 4-8 picks. they have $67m in cap space in 2024, and if they cut JG post June 1 save an addtl $13m.

not a fan of bringing him back.
not only did he leave, he took many with him, leaving the Pats in the lurch, after they made him the highest paid assnt coach in the league.
He's twice looted the Pats on his way out the door, poaching significant talent. Replacing the poached coaching talent over the years has been a huge under-valued burden on BB that has contributed to the Pats slow spiral down the drain.

Well Josh comes home in 3.2.1
I'll say this... there were rumors that BOB was considering going back to the NCAA a few weeks ago since then they have quited down. I'll bet you Josh comes back to the team in some compacity. Very interesting.. Josh is an OC not a head coach.

Next one on the way out?

Garoppolo is a perfect example of when you have an average at best QB and surround him with a lot of talent and a great scheme that he can look really good. Look at him last year after the 49ers got McCaffrey. In the five games he played, he completed 71.1% of his passes with 9 passing TDs, 1 rushing TD, and only one INT. Now in a worse system with a crap o-line, he is playing like garbage.

I will give McDaniels and Ziegler credit for at least getting receiving talent for their QB, but like the Pats, they have given Garoppolo an awful o-line and he is also without much help in the RB area either.

Garoppolo is as much of a signal to the Patriots as Tua and Purdy that if you do not have an elite QB and he is average you must surround him with good to great talent for him to be successful.

The Steelers are 29th in offense with their Erhardt - Perkins offense.
Zuma,. The only way things are going to change is if:

Gather talent at the skill positions or draft a QB. It's very simple.. we see it proven to us week in and out.. by The Bills, Cincy... for example. The team needs to change thier approach. The spending in 2021 gave us no elite talent offensively.
