If it was left to the individual teams, Ray Rice would have never missed a single down.
Until the tape came out, and the outrage started the pressure on Biscotti

No because this will not end with Goodell increasing the penalty, it will end with the Giants releasing Josh Brown, then Goodell will swoop in and suspend him for a year to show he doesn't favor the Giants.
He should suspend Mara and make him spend the time sharing space with Irsay....

Textbook enabling by the NFL:

"One night, Josh showed up at Molly's room drunk and was pounding on her door to (be) let in," the report reads. "Molly refused to let Josh in, and eventually had to call NFL and hotel security. Josh was escorted away from Molly's room and the NFL ended up having to put Molly and the kids up in a different hotel room where Josh would not know where they were."

Yet the Giants said they needed to substantiate the allegations against Brown.

and Goodell said he didn't know..

How does this guy still have a job? The men's room attendant at the Hilton Garden Inn has better judgment that Goodell! So NFL security had to secret the ex-wife and kids of a "Pro Bowler" in a different hotel so he wouldn't know where she was and nobody told the Freuher about that? Especially when this story first broke in August? That's almost as far fetched as the Ray Rice video being delivered to the NFL HQ, but nobody saw it!

Both Brown and Goodell have to go!

Yeah, I know. But a guy can wishful think cant he?

Goodell was clear in this.
He requested information from the player, which the player did not provide.
So, consistent with other decisions, he decided to be lenient and only suspend the player for a game for repeatedly beating the crap out of his wife.
The league said in a statement Thursday that requests to "obtain any and all evidence and relevant information" from the case were denied "which ultimately limited our ability to fully investigate this matter."

If evidence is not available, you don't expect them to search for it, or worse, make it up, do you?
What?

Yeah, it's not like Brown wasn't generally aware that he was abusing his own wife.

The part about the Pro Bowl shouldn't have been hard to find. Should have been in his personnel file, since decisions about employment are being made based upon items such as that, when the league was involved in the matter.

goodell survived the Rice fiasco because the nyjfl was raking in money hand over fist. The scumbag owners didn't dare upset the apple cart.

But now that tv ratings are down and their bottom line is taking a hit, maybe the scumbag owners will decide that they need to make goodell a fall guy for yet another PR disaster

Yeah, I know, wishful thinking. But a guy can dream....

Where's Josh's cell phone?

Hmm, curious that they didn't spend $10 million investigating this.

So this is where the NFL pretends that this news is a complete revelation that's blindsiding them, despite the fact that we now have proof that NFL security was aware that he was an abusive piece of ****. The NFL will get raked over the coals for hypocrisy, they won't care enough to make any meaningful change, but they will pay some lip service to the notion that women are people and maybe run some ****ty ad campaign every other commercial break in hopes that that'll be enough to substitute for actually doing anything.

We've seen this song and dance before.

It's ok. The league forces the players to wear pink for an entire month of games, so it evens out in the end.

Ray Rice redux.

Part of me thinks the NYJFL* has latched onto this ersatz outrage to quell the loud and uproarious opposition coming from (in part) this board and Patriots fans specifically, in light of Tom's egregious four-game suspension.

I also tweeted Albert Breer. Funny that it took an open records request for the NFL to find what NFL security was doing at the Pro Bowl. Something stinks.
