OT: Fan passed away at Gillette Last night

reading more about this, its very possible this will be 3rd degree murder

The dolphin fan was taunting him the entire game, and the victim didn't retaliate during the attack.. he never swung or threatened them

This dolphin fan is going to prison for a long time

That's how a guy died in the first place.

they take one of ours, we take two of theirs!

(im just kidding for any police informants... murder is wrong)

I hope so but we are talking about Mass here. They may give the Dolphins fan a stern talking too also. Commies gonna Commie.

yea unless there's a gun in the mix.. if the victim had a gun at home in a safe they would probably prosecute the entire Mooney family and give the attacker a medal

The Mooney family needs our prayers and support. Any info on funeral arrangements?

This attack isn’t just on one person. It’s a dagger on the family friendly atmosphere that the Krafts have tried to instill.

The big complaint in the old Schaeffer Stadium was public urinating and foul language.

This incident should be a wake up call for professional venues.

In the recent past in a baseball game a fight like this occurred that led to a fatality. Giants v Dodgers I think. But that was in an area outside the ballpark.

The fact that this occurred inside a facility shows how behavior is more brazen and criminal.

Dale Mooney, a Pats fan and a season ticket holder, was one of us. I think a big show of support is justified at his funeral, if there is one.

Ian, can you determine if he was a poster here?

This story sickens me.

Kraft needs to spend more money on security. The perpetrator was able to waltz out of the stadium under his own power? That’s unacceptable if true.

It’s one of the lead stories in the most popular newspaper in English, the Daily Mail.

There are security cameras all over the stadium. The suspect, reportedly a Dolphins fan, who punched Dale three times in the head causing his death is likely on footage. They should already know who it is.

Yet so far not even a description. What’s going on?

Tragedy for the Mooney family out of Newmarket, NH, which is near the coast next to Durham. Outrageous there have been no arrests.

Some will now decide going to a game isn’t worth it. Wait forever in line for access to a urinal. Then face the possibility of a thug attack.

It sounds as if this were an attack from behind without warning. Just gruesome.

Krafts, what the hell is going on? Wake the FU.

Security at Gillette is good. Fights are rare compared to before Kraft bought the team, there's an immediate "trouble" reporting system where people can text directly from their phones if/when something happens. Cameras are trained on every single seat as someone already mentioned. One possible problem is whether whoever has those seats sold them to Dolphins fans who can't be identified, although someone was taken into custody. The incident probably still is under investigation so it might be a bit before more info comes out.

One unique aspect to how season tickets are managed by the Patriots is ticket holders are responsible for someone behaving badly in their seats whoever it is. The penalty is losing future ticket privileges, a strong deterrent.

This is terrible but this type of thing can happen anywhere.
I still go back to Hill telling Dolphins fans to come and be rowdy and called us the worst fans in the NFL.

I mean only way to avoid this Is for designated sections of teams.
Otherwise what are you going to do assign a security guard to each row?
It’s impossible to avoid something like this.

This could happen at a little league game between arguing parents.

RIP to this man and it’s awful his son was there.
I don’t think the Dolphins fan thought he was using excessive force in this fight looked pretty standard.
Curious if the hit caused a aneurysm or did the trauma trigger a heart problem.

If that’s true, I dislike the player even more.

Can he be penalized by the League for incitement? Oh wait. Patriots. Troy Vincent, former Dolphin…

Nothing to see here, move along, folks.

Exactly, just search social media and you will see fight videos in just about every stadium, even the lowly Texans: Houston Texans fans fight each other after loss to Colts

Did not know there was a "standard" force when punching someone in the face. Tell me more about this...

Tragic. Terrible to read this news.
I will tell you that since Ticketmaster took over the resale market, we are not responsible for actions of those who buy our seats. Back in the day yes. Not anymore.

So being a fan in another team’s place is one thing. But this brutish soon to be felon did it as a supporter of the visitors. He was in the distinct minority.

All I can say is wow. I guess the fans around this incident were too intimidated to try to stop him or alert security. Or even retaliate.

Gone are the days of manners and decorum. And swift justice.

I’m just saying you can hit someone in the face or you can Punch someone in the face.
I’ve been punched in the face and I’ve been PUNCHED in the face there is a difference.
Hardest I’ve ever been punched is either when my dad use to punch me in the face or when I got jumped by a rap label out of NY cause I said they couldn’t rap for ish.

Thought I was fighting one got set up and jumped by 9 guys twice my size had the world timberland imprinted all over my skull.
Adrenaline wouldn’t let me stay down kept getting back up only to be slammed repeatedly on the basketball court.

I still think that’s the reason why sometimes I get sidetracked with what I was doing or thinking.
My point is there’s levels to being punched in the face.
someone can wind up and hit you with a haymaker or just catch you with a quick jab.

I think battery is battery and in this specific case the hit was severe enough to cause death or lead to it. I guess the defendant can say he diddnt mean to kill the guy

it’s a tough one, a sporting event emotions fired up it could be a misdemeanor assault he he cops out to. All the way to manslaughter it’s hard to say.

Sometimes it just takes getting hit in the right spot, doesn't matter if it's Mike Tyson throwing the punch or some chicken **** Dolphins fan. The autopsy will be key in determining the actual charge. Don't know much about the victim, but health issues could've contributed to the "medical event" that killed him, just as much as the punch, meaning involuntary manslaughter, or an even lesser charge.

It could've been the fall that killed him -- hit his head on a concrete step, for instance.

Suing the team is a pretty high bar, there's a limit to how closely 60k-plus people can be policed.

If he hit a cement step due to the hit that should raise the severity of the charges.
