OT Euro 2021 soccer

its not been discussed here yet, by the rules you are not allowed within 1m of the defense wall during a free kick (can't block or have any contact to the defense), which means, you have to stay away from the wall during a free kick by at least 1m, thus the Denmark goal shouldn't have counted because the 3 of them were actually glued to the english wall while the free kick was taken

england deserved it more. period
the english fans are disgusting though, seriously disgusting piece of ****

You are right.

There was an incident inside the Denmark box earlier in the half (Kane?) that was more egregious and more worthy of a PK than this one.
In other words
Make UP Call

Truthfully, a ref could call 5 penalties on every corner kick with all the mauling, clutching, holding...
But none ever gets called in big games

For a sport meant to be played with the feet, the hand action allowed by the sport defies logic.
Shoves, jersey pulls, etc...all supposed to be illegal in Footie....yet too often ignored

In the name of increasing scoring, treat any illegal hand action with much more severity than now.
If it was up to me, red card for a jersey tug and watch how quickly players adjust.
Wrap up a player on a corner kick.....immediate red card....gone

Then there's the 10 yard rule on free kicks.
Extend it by a few yards and give the taker a fairer chance of clearing the wall and finding the net (One free kick goal at Euros)

Next, eliminate a player in the 1st 15 minute OT period.
10 v 10
Then eliminate a 2nd player in the 2nd OT period
9 v 9
It works in hockey, perhaps the most exciting 5 minutes of any hockey game that reaches OT.
Having any contest decided by penalty shots diminishes the sport.
The "play for the tie and take our chances with penalty kicks" mentality is not sport and should be squashed

(Ideally, make OT sudden death but we all know such a concept would trigger the Queen's subjects to no end)

Finally, the PK spot inside the box is too close
Make it less automatic
Back it up similar to extending the distance of the extra point in the NFL

I personally thought the Kane ‘incident‘ was less worthy of a pk. Looked closer/more like a Kane dive to me.

German announcers i watched thought the one given was borderline/arguable but said it was a judgement call that VAR could never resolve as it was ‚judgement‘. I think with my limited knowledge, I would have just said ‚play on‘.
I too thought England outplayed Denmark, just DK had the better goalie.

very intriguing ideas,. … that will likely never see light of day.

England fans where using laser pointers? Gosh i hope Italy kicks their butts.

It will depend if Italy gets to the ref..........like old times

@borg I agree with your points re holding (wrestling) in the box and shirt pulling , its basically cheating along with diving in the box. Also this pretending to be injured and then getting up as if nothing had happened deserves a red card as well. However, I doubt any of these issues would ever be looked at seriously

Denmark and everyone else saying that they got robbed shouldn't be complaining. All I saw in that extra time was England attacking and Denmark parking the bus that goal was going to come. If you park the bus and playing for penalties no sympathy from me

Lol…why does everyone hate England so much? Seems like they were hated well before that semi-final game and well before the tournament started. Italy is always good and has won a lot, so I would have thought people would root for the team that usually crumbles under expectations.

I don’t really care who wins, but just due to Britain’s historical European alliances with the US, you’d think they’d be the obvious fan choice here anyway.

You would think more people in America would be turned off by the Italians reputation for diving.

it's the old broads...no one likes a leering Manjaw Manfacington...I've seen better looking women at the bonobo exhibition of the Bronx Zoo.

I'm dating an Italian woman and if her insecurity about her "gaining a little weight" opened the door for me, thank God. Holy shyt.

Go Italy.

My high school was about 70% Italian. I think a good portion of the girls were shaving before the boys.

One of the great things about Italian women is they know their way around a kitchen. Years ago we rented our basement suite to a family who had just come from Italy. The wife would bake us pastry’s and cakes. My lord were they good. Felt like asking her to give my wife some lessons.

Dude!! You have no idea of what Thanksgiving is like until you've experienced it with an Italian family. You're eating until you you can't possibly eat any more. And you'll love every bite. And you're taking leftovers home. It's unreal.

My Italian grandmother made EVERYTHING for Thanksgiving from scratch.Made the pasta by hand, the wine by the barrel, all the pastries, the Italian wedding soup with the little meatballs. She'd go up to Federal Hill to get the turkey fresh killed...had a razor blade that she used to mark one of the turkey's toe claws...if that turkey came back from being killed and de-feathered and it didn't have that razor mark?..."you go in the back and get MY turkey now...THIS not my turkey.."....Jeezus, the entire family, aunts, uncles, all the cousins sat down at the big table in her basement kitchen...and we ate and ate and ate and ate....she died and the family all went their separate ways for years....we finally got it back together in the early 2000's. These days, my responsibility is the ricotta pie,the parma and melon platter and the Chianti gallon jug. My 100 year old Auntie Philomena still makes the little sugar cookies and biscotti for the coffee afterwards.
I'm half Irish so...FORZA ITALIA!

My brothers wife is Italian so we’ve shared lots of holidays with them and her family. Great people, but I laugh my ass off when her brother and her Dad argue sports all night long. Her Dad once tried to convince us that CFL players were as talented as NFL players. Nothing we said could sway his opinion.

What are the 2 shortest books in the library?

Great Italian War Heroes and 1000 Years of German Humor.
