OT Euro 2021 soccer

Guess Ukraine need to go and learn about defending corners and heading the ball from set pieces.

Game over

Dont think Denmark will give away such easy goals

Yip, enough for me ............Italy v Spain next

I agree but dont know the rule in any detail ???.....VAR can be useful but also cause division and disagreement
The rule for offside is that absolutely no body part can be ahead of the defender, including a fingernail or a dredlock.

not true, its only a body part with which you can score a regular goal, so hands are not used for decision whether its offside or not but head, feet, upper body...

however VAR is not allowed always to interfere, its only allowed for specific defined situations where a clear failure happened to the ref, like missing out on a red card or missing out on a penalty foul, goals are reviewed always no matter what (and also therefore checked for offside, however here it is only the last pass not the 5th pass before the score which might have been an offside for instance)

also situations like today in the first game where the corner kick was a wrong call which lead to the first daenish goal but the VAR was not allowed to interfere and correct the call...
still a lot improvement there with VAR

Caught the 2nd half of Brazil/Chile last night.
Brazil’s antics/simulation make Italy & Spain look like choir boys in comparison.
Surprisingly, Neymar flopped the least on his team.

A fair amount to say the least. My wife is pissed because Columbia and Uruguay basically spent the entire first half feeling each other out. No direct plan of attack. She's hoping Diaz picks it up in the 2nd half. He's their best player and a tone setter.

Colombia advances by PK's 4-2, throwing the monkey off their back that is Uruguay. But likely running into a wall in Argentina. Nothing got broken tonight, but a lot of bad set pieces by Colombia playing like paper tigers.

Based on the exciting football seen so far I hope Italy beat Spain. Denmark are a possible danger team for England , they will not play as poorly as Ukraine and their spirit is second to none. Also , remember Iceland beat England in 2016 and Denmark are a better team. This game is more difficult to predict than some would think.

Sorry, IPT, but this is why I want your team to lose:

Exactly what I hate most about soccer. Itsly, Spain, and Portugal IMO are the ‚worst If a bad lot‘ (in Europe) [re: upstater ‚they all do it‘ - does not justify or excuse, particularly not the worst cases. ].

It will not end til the umpires start handing out yellowcards for the most egregious. Immobile ImO could have justified a red.

In particular we know youth are watching these games and do you really want to see a bunch of 12-year olds flopping and grimacing on the ground holding body parts that weren’t even contacted in collisions in the local games. It’s coming if not already.
This time my friend i disagree
This italian team is surprising me a lot in a positive way and i am a casual fan
Yesterday the best team won and the best team in these 90 minutes was Italy
Not interested about a non fact at all like this
Belgium was 1st in the ranking and Italy beated them without if without but
Nice. If you can’t defend the behavior or counter the accusation, change the subject.
the team is super talented, particularly in 1:1 ball fighting and short-duration ball passing; but the history of Italian soccer just seems that flopping is a TRAINING METHOD for the national team and not just the individuals cheating / looking for extra competitive advantage on their own.

Hey Gumby...relax...i am not a soccer fan either...and i am not defending Immobile but looking only that single fact give no credit at all to an awesome italian team

England looks good too now as a team

Let s see what will happen

Emerson Toloi or Florenzi
This team has an incredible depth
Of course Spinazzola was the best solution but we are at the end more or less as semi finals are next week: so only 1 or 2 games still

This italian team has several good options

What a job from Mancini
Mancini gets the most out of this talent. He has been fantastic. Need to defend a little better against Spain, though.

I just realized I’ve visited every country in the Euro semifinals! No big deal for a Euro but not common for a Yank!

I mean, like clockwork, a Harry Kane flop leads to an England goal!

And although I hate the new idiotic VAR offside rules where an arm etc. causes you to be offside, all year long they called the McGuire goal off the Kane flop offsides. But no VAR check? Really? Maguire's arm was past the defender. Stupid rule, but where's the consistency?
You do know that Kane’s favorite NFLer is Tom Brady so it’s no surprise that he knows how to flop professionally.

Nobworries. Not taking serious ( sometimes I really come off in posts different than I think am saying verbally)

nowhere near a soccer expert either. only really a fan because living in Europe it is the only sport you really get pushed at you on free tv /Radio etc and that is also watercooler talk. Handball is huge in my town/area, but you can’t find it on tv. mannheim Eagles were German hockey champs (8 of 26 years of league existence) and you can’t find them in local/national Sport News much either.

agree w England. all of a sudden now an offensive powerhouse. it looks like Englan-Italy finals. That should be a good game (if they control the flopping )

best of luck. I don’t really have a true interest in who wins, but lots of English at work so would be happy for them.

You can root against Italy because their players don't just go down like playing cards but fake injury when they're fine, or you can root against England because their fans are the sort of creeps who boo the other team's national anthem. Either way makes sense to me.

But they've both got to get there first. Denmark may not look like a big team, but they're on a high and enjoying knocking off more fancied teams. And Spain are no pushover.

Are we seeing a change in the European team pecking order ?

Germany , Spain , Holland and Croatia have all dropped a couple of points , France ? a team of individuals ? , this has got to be Englands best chance. Standing in their way.......Denmark who should never be underestimated and Italy who themselves are playing a lot more exciting football instead of relying on a steel defence and single goal victories as in the past ???

Italy v Spain should be more exciting , Denmark v England more of a chess match ?

I was in Germany at a local guest house drinking a weizen when they won the world cup. Unbelievable moment. I've never seen so many happy people in one place. I haven't been in England in over 35 years but back then they had some great local pubs. If true I'd imagine it would be a great place to watch the finals.
