This is what happens when two great defences face each other. Italy defended amazingly - but completely sold out on offense. Germany's three-man defence was the perfect counter to Italy's offensive style that relied on Pelle and Eder drawing out the defence during counterattacks. All of the previous four quarterfinalists wouldn't have done any better when playing those defences when they are determined to keep a clean sheet.

Cut him some slack, he's played an amazing tournament, arguably the best defender till now while dealing with lower leg problems the entire time. Had one brainfairt moment, but he made his penalty in the end despite all that pressure.
