BB would have cut that receiver before the clock hit zero. Some of the worst effort I have ever seen in a sporting game

I think might help to assume that most people did not actually see the game. Could you post a summary/clip of what you are referring to?

Interestingly, I didn't know Louisville was where Bobby Petrino was hiding out at now.

Walking out on the Falcons overnight the way he did is still one of the most spineless things I've seen a coach do. Looks as though he's still being fed his karma.

Clemson defense looked tired, Lousville was marching down the field trying to eat some clock in the process, once it got inside the 20 Clemson's defense did a great job, I think Lousville should have tried something in the end zone before crossing the 20 yard.

Wow. If he had just cut back inside . . . wow. Awful. To be fair, maybe his coach told him to get out of bounds after the first down. But doesn't the clock stop in college football after a first down anyway? Just a weird sequence.

4th and 7 at the opponents 15 yard line or so. Receiver catches the ball 5 yards short of line to gain and goes out of bounds on his own without trying to get the first down.. No situational awareness

The video does not evidence what everyone is talking about here. He did not go out of bounds "on his own" at all. He was simply knocked out of bounds while he was trying to turn the corner. He even lowered his right shoulder as he was trying to turn the corner.

#29 made a helluva play. Even the announcer exclaimed that he saved the game.

I agree. Looks like a great defensive play. Belichick would approve.

Didn't that false start by the OT Lukayus McNeil make it 4th and 12? Regardless, the reciever should've fought for the 1st down in that situation smdh

Good play by the DB, but the receiver definitely could've done a LOT more. Not much effort.

What the **** kind of playcall is that? 4th and 12 and you dump it off 3 yards past the LOS and expect the kid to make up the rest? Once the outside DB switches and lets his man go, the play is pretty much dead unless the receiver can juke the guy or carry him 4 to 5 yards. The throw is also a bit of a floater, and doesn't hit him in stride, so he has to turn, wait for it, giving the DB time to square him up. But it's entirely this kid's fault today, and that's not fair.

Although one thing I read this morning is that there were no chains on that side, so it seemed like he didn't know where the 1st down marker was. Even after getting knocked out of bounds, he signals for a first down. So maybe it is entirely his fault. I don't know.

I think that's exactly it. He thought he got the 1st down so he let himself be tackled out of bounds instead of cutting towards the middle and fighting like heck for every yard. Hey, it's teenagers and young 20-somethings playing football. You'll see mistakes like that. Just look at Tennessee-Georgia. 20 yards of penalties against the Bulldogs gave Tennesee the chance to throw a Hail Mary. But what are the odds they complete a Hail Mary, ya know?

On a slightly related note, Coach Petrino may be a reprehensible human being, but he is a damn decent college coach. Funny how those 2 things so often go hand in hand.

It looks like he tried to get as much as he could, and hoped he could make the marker.

I see nothing to criticize the receiver for at all. He saw the one-on-one circumstance and thought he had a chance to win it--and he did have that chance. I don't think this has anything to do with "situational football." And inside cut wd have given the defense more time to respond.

Between that game, UNC/FSU, and Tennessee/Georgia, that was one of the better weekends of college ball I've seen in some time.
