What do people there think of Fox and the job he's done so far? It seemed like he had the Bears on a bit of a roll mid-season, then they tanked. I'd like to see the Bears do well and was disappointed they went with a retread like Fox when they could've had Arians or maybe someone else with Chicago connections.
Fox is merely a caretaker. He will get a team to play hard and nothing more. If the Bears really wanted to take it to another level from a coaching standpoint, then they need someone innovative, who is flexible enough to change with the evolving NFL landscape, someone like an Adam Gase.
The problem with the Bears comes back to the roster. They are just terrible. The bad drafting during the late Angelo years carried over through Phil Emery's entire tenure. They will need several productive drafts in order to produce a perennial contender for the postseason.
It is funny you mention Arians... there is a story out here about how Emery had Rod Marinelli interview three candidates following Lovie Smith's firing: Bruce Arians, Darrell Bevell, and Marc Trestman.
Marinelli returns to Emery and says something along the line of "Arians was far and away is the best candidate. Bevell is a distant second. Marc Trestman is an even more distant third."
Emery then decided, after hearing Marinelli's report, to hire Trestman.
Well, the story goes that Marinelli quit right after hearing that Emery was going with Trestman.
