I’d say most if not nearly all of the conference champions in 2019 aren’t in doubt already. Don’t need a “championship” game beatdown to figure out who the champ is. Like Clemson in the ACC... nobody else is close.
Not always, though. Sometimes these are the best games. Georgia would give LSU a run for their money if they weren’t limping into this game. I think you can, and should, keep the conference championships while still expanding the playoff.I’d say most if not nearly all of the conference champions in 2019 aren’t in doubt already. im not sure if you're saying what im saying here, but Clemson is the only shoe in conference champion, i wouldn't be surprised if the rest were upsets

I’d be shocked if Wisconsin upsets OSU. I think the Buckeyes are going to curb stomp them again. Even though the final score wasn’t close, I throughly enjoyed Oregon/Utah last night. That was an physical, old school style game.
Agreed I'm on them at 16.5, Baylor +9.5 & Cinci +10.Ohio State beat up Wisconsin earlier in the year 38-7 and are favored by 16.5 this time around. Hard to see Wisconsin making a game out of it, but stranger things have happened.
I like 8. Recently 4 vs 5 has been a tough call with 5 being a legit candidate (the year OSU was shunned after winning big 10 ccg for bama would didn’t even qualify for sec ccg is one example)The system is perfect as is in my opinion. I hope it stays at4 I feel like every year there’s maybe 4-5 teams max that are national title worthy.

You could make the same argument with 8 vs 9 but I think leaving out 5 often leaves out a legit championship contender while choosing between 8 and 9 is picking the best of long shots.
Plus with 8 you can do automatic berth for the 5 major conf champions and 3 at large.
Conference championships are a stated criteria. But if you want to argue they don’t then explain OSU in 16 and 18Ohio state didn’t deserve to get in over Bama that year imo. Ohio state wasn’t national title quality and their resume was not as good. They lost by 31 to an unranked iowa and by 15 at home to OU.
