The Patriots are fairly tight against the cap. The Chiefs are squeezed against it.

Field Yates of ESPN.com has posted the current cap numbers, and New England’s $891,775 doesn’t look like much, until it’s compared to Kansas City’s.

The Chiefs have (the headline gave it away) $177.00 in cap space.

They also return every player that played over half their snaps last season, so I think they'll take it.

They could free a bunch of money by dumping Sammy Watkins so it's not much of a concern.

Chiefs should be fine this year but once Mahomes gets big money it will become increasingly difficult to maintain as good a roster. The Pats lost a lot of good players in past 5 years - Jimmy G, Logan Ryan, Chandler Jones, Trey Flowers mainly due mainly to money considerations. We'll see if the Chiefs can do the same.
