Oakland Raiders head coach Tom Cable abused them, women say - ESPN

Did anyone else see this? They are teasing it on the bottomline like it is some sort of breaking news...

They are claiming that Cable is a wife beater! Of course, they have a disgruntal girlfriend and a 20 year old divorce papers as "proof". This is a complete hatchet job on Cable. Wow, I thought crap like this is only reserved for the Patriots. Anyone can tell you that claiming that you got hit is trick #1 in any divorce. Apparent Cable slap his wife, once, twenty years ago, and BSPN sees fit to put this on the bottomline. Journalism on a whole is pretty much dead in this country, but can anyone tell me how this is relevent today???

Re: BSPN tunrs it's hatchet to Tom Cable

So that brings to three the number of people who say Cable assaulted them. There's also a letter from Cable to one of the women in which he apologizes for hitting her. There'll probably be a lot more before it's over.

It's not exactly a "hatchet job" if it's true, which it appears to be, and it's relevant to him recently being accused of beating up his assistant.

Re: BSPN tunrs it's hatchet to Tom Cable

Uh what about the current THIRD person claiming physical hiting....

"Lutz, who dated Cable as recently as January 2009, said she remembers Cable hitting her "three, four times." She described a scene in a car after they left a restaurant where "[Cable] just got so angry I could not recognize him."

Last Jan. 6, Lutz said she came to Cable's house early in the morning and found another woman there. According to a police report from Alameda, Calif., Lutz became "very upset" and "demanded to meet the woman." Lutz told police that after an altercation, Cable "grabbed her by the left arm, causing her to fall to the ground" and "eventually pick[ed] her up and pushed her out the front door."

Lutz went to the emergency room and was treated for back pain and a contusion. Lutz also told police Cable had grabbed her by the neck several months earlier.

She did not press charges with any police jurisdictions."

Sure, a 20 yr old divorce case alone would be a hatchet job but here you're WAY off base claiming it's a hatchet job, with 3 claimants and multiple documented instances. Given the fact that he really beat up the other coach, this unrepentant, unpunished bully has serious psychological anger control issues.

Yeah if you're gonna try to prove a hatchet job you're going to need to find a better 'victim' than Tom Cable.

Dude's clearly got anger issues.

Re: BSPN turns it's hatchet to Tom Cable

They're reporting it is three different women. Two ex-wives and a girlfriend.

All three plus Coach Hanson is FOUR more people claiming physical violence against them than I and most human beings EVER have claims levied against them in an entire life.

FTW, there are better victims to waste you time lamenting than that guy. Honestly. Where do you come off claiming he hit ONE person 20 years ago and that was all?

I'm guessing because that was Cable's prepared statement.

Oh, well, then he's innocent......and his Assistant Coach "fell down some steps".

You know if you find yourself defending a clearly abusive and troubled human being because you've got some ridiculous grudge about a sports media outlet not being fair to your favorite team it's probably time for a reality check.

Re: BSPN turns it's hatchet to Tom Cable

Reports are that he had a restraining order, too. Everything sounds sketchy. Hanson's attorney is apparently trying to paint Cable as a violent person to fan the flames prior to the civil suit.

Re: BSPN turns it's hatchet to Tom Cable

What's most interesting is that our illustrious commish will probably look the other way throughout this whole thing. The double standard continues.

He would be thrown in the can and suspended for two years if they were dogs, but since they were three females and a subordinate.....it's no big deal?

It's far more complicated and damning of Cable than you've painted it. Check it out again.

Re: BSPN turns it's hatchet to Tom Cable

The issue with Hanson is that the witnesses are also coaches. I find there recollection of events unlikely
When interviewed, Raiders assistant coaches John Marshall, Lionel Washington and Willie Brown did not back Hanson's version of events, telling investigators that Cable did not punch Hanson or make any verbal threats.

Lieberstein, in declining to prosecute Cable, said the coaches told police that Cable became angry and rushed toward Hanson, but Washington stepped between the two. Cable ran into Washington, who bumped into Hanson and knocked him out of his chair. The witnesses also told authorities that Cable then grabbed Hanson by the shirt but never struck or threatened him.

I think these coaches are mearly protecting their jobs. Assistants depend on the head coach for their job. Especially when Davis would defend his own poor decision making in donning Cable as head coach. Davis would fire any dissenters. So these coaches get Cable's back. Even Hanson didn't initially tattle on Cable until the hospital got the police involved.

What I've heard of the unreleased police report (rumor) is that the witnesses claim he was knocked into a table while Cable tried to attack Hanson and was being restrained. Still sounds like assault to me. If it were one of us that did this, we'd be in court facing charges.

The league should do something about the Raiders.

What I want to know is how Hanson broke his jaw by "falling into a table" (although I swear that I remember reading he "fell out of his chair" orginially). A broken jaw is a classic fight injury.

Re: BSPN turns it's hatchet to Tom Cable

Yeah Cable is a disgrace to the NFL. By just looking at his face, I would be afraid to say one word to him. I gotta question the intelligence of these women however. Why women even associate with this guy is beyond me--the dude looks twisted. Kinda like Mike Tyson--a bankrupt, overweight, mentally and physically abusive person--yet women flock to him--how is that attractive?

Re: BSPN turns it's hatchet to Tom Cable

At what point does Al Davis scream conspiracy?

Re: BSPN turns it's hatchet to Tom Cable

At what point does Al Davis scream conspiracy?

He isn't going to peep a decibel as long as his coach is in the clear with the league...even if it is clear that the coaches were lying or too scared over continuing to work to tell the truth

Maybe he has a 2 foot tongue?
