Too many turnovers in the NZ and our own zone this entire series. Awful. Refs cost us a game so this should be going 6 but it isn't...officiating is NBA bad now and it's brutal to watch

Team was projected to be fighting for a playoff spot..end up with 100+ pts. Future is so so bright

For a team that was widely thought to be a third period squad, they ended up 1-6 this postseason when trailing after two.

Fuhr wasn’t too bad, wish we had him during his prime years.
Fuhr was in a weird spot. He had the greatest offense ever (and a D that played offense) in front of him and was all left alone. If people just looked at his numbers they'd think he sucked.

Quickest glove hand ever and when they needed stops they got them. You can't win 4 Cups if the goalie sucks

Different era, too. Ovechkin, who put up what's pretty eye popping for this era 49 goals this season, would have only been the 11th leading goal scorer in 1982, say. Patrik Laine, with 44, would have tied for 14th with guys like Barry Pederson.

If only Tuuka's girlfriend would make a statement, like Giselle. He can't do it all, for Christ's sake! The entire team looked like they were playing in quicksand. Looking forward to next year, and putting that terrible Nash trade in the rear view mirror...with Rask in net GO CAPS!

Fuhr was the goods and pretty much was the defense on those Oilers teams. Mad respect for his game. He did have a wicked glove but the quickest may have been before your time, Ken Dryden.

And that with all the rule changes favoring offense that have been made. Just imagine what those teams from the 70's and 80's would have put up for numbers with no 2 line pass rule.

Leading teams give fewer opportunities in the playoffs. Getting ahead is a much bigger deal come playoff time.

Looking forward to the draft and seeing SweeNeely get another crack at a first-round talent...

...oh wait...

Eh, it's not quite the NBA, but the NHL draft isn't very deep. Late 1st rounders are just marginally better dart throws than a 2nd rounder, and after that you're basically just praying. It's the nature of the beast when you're trying to project 18 year olds 3 or 4 years down the line. The Rick Nash rental didn't work out but it wasn't a terrible idea.

Yea Dryden was kicking ass when I was in elementary school.

Exactly.. quite a couple of folks overlooking this. Can only go up from here. McAvoy and DeBrusk performed better than expected. Donato and Bjork are coming into form, and who saw Heinen scoring as much as he did?

Old farts. I was reading Dryden's memoir in elementary school, and it was published several years before I was born.

Besides Joe Juneau, who is a legitimate rocket scientist (same school, better grades than Matt Patricia; 3.96 GPA in aerospace engineering at RPI while finishing his degree in 3 years after he arrived unable to speak English all while playing on a national championship hockey team), Dryden is probably the smartest guy to play in the NHL. Low bar, given that hockey players are definitely the dumbest athletes in any major sport (speaking from experience), but still.

I used to get pissed when I'd see highlights of Dryden giving up Rask-like cheapies to the Sabres etc., then he'd stone us.

But you know it was always a big game B's-Habs.

Every goalie back then gave up cheapies, even the best ones.

Charlie in the playoffs was BAD...but his injury didn't help as he didn't look himself and it's funny. The D started to crumble when Carlo went down..that was a bigger loss than people think
