And that's all she wrote..

Vasilevskiy is just playing lights out.
He's mostly been solid, but vulnerable. His overlooked defense hasn't left much for rebounds.

Rask is a top 10 netminder, unless you can do better than giving him the blindfold and cigarette at dawn isn't much of a solution.
Rask is not in the top 10. I'm not even going to argue this.

Typical blues move to trade Liut when they were in first place in their division at the time.
To think the Adams Division had Mike Liut, Reggie Lemelin, Patrick Roy, Tom Barasso and Clint Malarchuck as starting goalies during the 86-87 season.

Oh and the B's had a scrub named Bill Ranford sitting on the bench.

I really don't see how people can blame Rask in this series and I've been very critical of him. The Bruins consistently turned the puck over in their own end in this series. The two goals today Krejci had an awful turnover and on the other the B's are letting the other team cycle with no pressure and give up a shot in the slot from close in.

Tampa was by far the faster and more skilled team. What surprised me was they were also the more aggressive and harder hitting. After game one, and even in game 4 when the refs jobbed them, Tampa owned them in every phase.

Good luck with that. This blues fan has been looking for that since we let Curtis Joseph go.
Thought you had 'em in Turek. Fuhr had a good year until he got hurt. That screwed you guys

I don't dispute that Rask needs to "sack up" more often and they should've held onto Martin Jones, but the Cup has been won by lesser goalies. They have a great infusion of youth, but should focus on improving the D with better puck movement. Krug is their best option for this, but not enough. MacAvoy is still a few years away.
Rask is serviceable but I'm not going to believe the team can't upgrade the position.

Malarchuck......scariest hockey injury ever. The dude is lucky to be alive.

Hockey is hard, blaming the goaltender is easy. I'm not a big Rask guy but he is not the reason they lost this series. Tampa outplayed Boston for long stretches helped in large part by a ridiculous number of mindless turnovers. They got 1 goal in the 4 losses from lines 2, 3 &4 and most surprisingly they were substantially out hit. The kids suddenly looked kids, no doubt that was Rask's doing a s well.

I think he's a little better than average myself, but even if the B's did want to move him his contract might make it tough. Unfortunately, they would have to take on a similar contract from another team or give something up to move him.

Viewer discretion is advisable if you get queasy at the sight of blood.

That was I think in 1989 or so but I recall reading if he bled out for another half minute he wouldn't have made it.

The Bruin's offense went from boom to bust :(

This. He's not perfect but you can do a lot worse, and finding a better goalie isn't easy, and the best ones tend to be homegrown and it takes years. Giving up on Subban was almost certainly a mistake because he seems to have that potential, but it's hard to see them finding someone better than Rask.

He's also just an easy target for people whose understanding of hockey... well, just isn't that great. The Lightning are just a better team than the Bruins. They didn't get help from the officials but they were still punching upwards from the get-go and aside from game 1 they never played well enough to steal games. This Bruins team's peak is still a couple years off and I would guess Rask will be there when the peak comes.

Rask is indeed well above average and replacing him would be no easy task. He has had 7 seasons in which he played 35 or more games, in those seasons he has finished 9, 7, 14, 12, 4, 4, 1 in GAA. He is second all time in career save %, second. He's not going to make anyone forget Dryden or Hasek soon but he is a top 10 goalie.
