Living in the same town as you, I’ve always wondered the same thing, particularly since all of the media members, cops, etc are constantly on the ****s of anything Steelers related. It’s ridiculous.

I think the head of security for the Squeelers is a former cop. It certainly paid off for Rapistberger.

The Boston media is only happy when the local teams are losing.

Winning is not what its cracked up to be and is the worst thing that could happen for the sports news/ talk business. Boston is a negative town. Its only a matter of time before something bad happens to its sports teams. Despair over the Red Sox is great print. Losing to the Yankees is how its supposed to be. The Boston sports media are waiting like buzzards for Brady and Belichick to show signs of losing their edge.

The sour grapes from the mediots makes the winning even more enjoyable.

This thread answers your question. Consider this:

There are 2 afternoon sports radio hosts on competing stations. Dale Arnold, who works for the Bruins telecast, is very knowledgeable, very fair minded and does a very good job. OK he might be a little homerish, but not egregiously so. Michael Felger is a miserable troll who will criticize anything and everything, no matter what happens.

So..... which one of those radio personalities was mentioned in something like 10 posts in this thread, and which one hasn't been mentioned once (until my post right here)?

It should be noted he was mentioned in derision and while we were mocking him it was Arnold we were watching and listening to. So there's that to consider. There is a small measure of entertainment to be gained from seeing Amonte handle that hack but not enough to keep it on long.

Doubt Wingels will go next game will be interesting if it's Gionta or Donato.
We have some nice depth watching from the 9th floor.
Meh. Lets see where Riley Nash is on Saturday morning. I'd rather he be the 3rd line C than Donato or Gionta. Similar size to Wingels thus bigger than Gionta.

The answer to the questions about Boston media is that it's a combination of agenda and audience, and that extends beyond just the sports media. Felger, just to point to an easy example, couldn't get an audience when he tried playing it somewhat straight. Felger got a huge audience when he decided to play the trolling douche.
This.

Sports media personalities - both local and national - discovered long ago that it is far, FAR better to have everyone talking about what a moron you are than simply not talking about you at all. We, the public, reward idiocy by discussing and tuning into the idiots.

It’s all an act. They don’t even believe their own tripe. They just perform for our entertainment which gives them attention and ratings.

Mazz picked the leads for the series because he doesn't think the B's can handle the leafs defense. The weakest part of the leafs is their D, he's such a Dolt.

Mazz is literally Castanza at this point. He's been so wrong about so many things, just go with the opposite of what he says. The best part about it all is his arrogance when he proclaims his opinions

Not unlike one of this forums most prolific posters, when called out on his willful misstatements, misrepresentations or outright ignorance mazz simply declares victory in the most ridiculously condescending way possible and usually with with nothing more to back it up than his own bluster

Great game by the B’s last night. They have as good a blend of experience and really good young players as I have seen. This is going to be a very good team for years to come.

The B's played great, the power play as awesome. It worries me that Bergeron got thrown out of a ton of faceoffs last night. I hope that was an outlier and not something the linesman will be doing all series.

Agree. They need to finagle Backus and Krejci in there....

Fun Fact: Donato was 12/16 in faceoffs W/L 75% win rate. Thats crazy

Kadri got a 3 game suspension for the boarding penalty a/k/a ridiculous cheap shot

I'm surprised at the 3 games. The way the league handles things I expected a lesser player would get at least 2-4 but Kadri being Kadri I feared he get off with 1-2. Leaving his feet must have sealed the deal.

I think it would have been 5 had it been the regular season. 3 playoff games is significant but that was a nasty cheap shot.

He has a major history in the league of being dirty and suspensions..but wasn't a repeat offended by the CBA
