Gronkowski was the highest-paid player in the history of that position once the extension kicked in.
Yeah I don't get this bill screwed Gronk with the extension narrative. When he signed it he was the highest paid tight end and still on his rookie deal I believe
Now just because the market changes doesn't mean you got screwed. It's same as Gilmore situation. At the time he was one of if not the highest paid corner. But the market changes.
If players want to play the market they could do short term deals but then you risk getting injured or underperforming and never getting that big payday. So it's a calculated risk. Long term security vs the market going up at your position. Alot of players want their cake and to eat it too.
