OT - Ben could be out 4-6 weeks

if this was a playoff he'd prob suit up.

This is bad. Looks deliberate by a player with a history. Should be zero tolerance, but, you know, integrity.

This needs to be a major suspension. I don't like Big Ben, but that is so blatant and egregious. Not only did he clearly intentionally kick him in the leg, but then he clearly punched him in the gut (i thought maybe just going for a strip, but he flat up punched him low, then went up toward the ball before grabbing his shoulder). This animal needs to miss games. That's despicable.

So are you saying he's back in 3, 4 weeks or 6 weeks?

I'm saying that standard return from his surgery is 4-6 weeks. I'll add that I underwent the same surgery and came back early. The result of that was an unpleasant doctor's appointment that involved pain on my part and yelling on the part of the doctor.

First week - no weight bearing
Second week - light weight bearing/perhaps some walking
3rd week and on - rehabbing

Standard times for this. 4-6 weeks is the norm. I got scoped and returned ahead of schedule, AMA, which resulted in a painful afternoon at the doctor's office.

4-6 weeks is a fairly long recovery time for the surgery (meniscus shave) that he had. As long as a player isn't opting for a full meniscus repair like AP did, there's many instances of the shave or removal just putting them out for a couple weeks. Apparently the reason why the recovery is expected to run long is because the doctors found some residual damage from the injury he suffered to the same knee last year.

“Doc says my knee looked good, but there still was some stuff in there from when I had my bone bruise last season in St. Louis,” Roethlisberger said Tuesday from his North Hills home. “He said that might keep me out a little longer than just a simple meniscus tear. Maybe an extra week or so. But there’s no way to put an exact timetable on it. It all depends on my pain and how I feel.”

Ron Cook: Roethlisberger says injury history could briefly delay return

I initially figured he'd be back after their bye before the bone bruise thing came out. Now I'd bet he misses two starts, but I'll be mildly surprised if he's not back by week 10.

This is a notable pattern with his injuries, extending the initial recovery time so he can continue to scream loudly that he is tough and plays through pain. I can't recall a single injury of his that didn't go down exactly like this. This way, he will come back in the early end of the recovery rather than the late end.

Hightower had a torn meniscus in the Arizona game and missed the next two games. Without knowing the severity of the injury or what the repair was, it is hard to determine the length of recovery for Big Ben. It should be noted that these are professional athletes that get extensive rehab on their injuries. They get far more care and attention then the average person with the same injury. Still it looks more like a 4 to 6 week recovery because it was to the same knee that he hurt last year and recovery is expected to take longer.

My guess he will be out 4 weeks and with the bye he will miss 3 games and be back to play the Browns in Cleveland on Nov 20th. That way he will only miss 1 divisional game and that's against the Ravens. It's possible that they could lose 3 games and still win the division and be in the playoffs but 10 wins I think won't be enough.

we don't need any help from anybody. we just need to win our games...... especially @ Buffalo

I dont understand why the steelers dont have a more competent backup considering Big Ben has missed games due to injury EVERY YEAR
