2 seasons? Maybe. He's gotta show improvement. I don't think they'll fire him after Y1 unless he has an Eberflus type moment. Y2, they need to be better all the way around: Record, situational awareness, overall preparedness, better control of locker room, all of it. If he's bumbling along Y2 like this year, he's done IMO.
unfortunately, I agree with you.

Seemed like it was more on Caleb. He checked out of the play, which took time, and picked a slow developing play. What could the coach do there?

He could have at least given his team a chance and not have ended the loss with a timeout in his pocket

If the Pats get waxed on Sunday- it’s your move Wolf.
Absolutely positively agree. I think AVP has brought himself time with the development of Drake.. but covington whom I like.. the defense has worsned each passing week. I believe Mayo's got to make a change.. also what doesn't get much attention is wolf&mayo collectively control the roster with wolf having the final say on roster transactions. I believe Mayo's in charge of coaching/staff decisions.

If they get Ben Johnson it will be the best thing to happen to Caleb’s career.

Yes agreed. It's always been about year 2 and beyond. However how the defense has looked another bumbling loss Sunday, and the defense looks bad I can see mayo likely having to make a change at DC.

Seems like he should have been fired weeks ago but scapegoated his OC which bought him a few weeks.

What a trainwreck. I have no idea why they thought it was smart to draft Caleb but keep Eberflus. They should have hit reset on the entire staff first.
I question why Bob Kraft would hire a new coach/coordinators and put them in charge of our rebuild? IMO, our situation is just as much a trainwreck as the Bears. I also question if thunderstick would make a change if the last five games aren't an improvement over the Miami game. He just doesn't want to spend money.

I've really started to pay more attention to covington.. as guys have worsened on defense they look nothing remotely close to a disciplined unit and sound defense. I expect what every team has done.. run and throw on them. Does covington last through the bye if this happens?

ya, but the plan was to throw a short pass in the middle of the field, take the timeout, and kick the field goal. and professor williams decided to do otherwise. so if eberflus takes the timeout, they are out of field goal range with no timeouts. I guess that's better than what happened, but I can imagine them on the sideline thinking, "surely this donkey is not going to let the clock run out."

Mayo will be fired only if we don't win even a single game and defense gives up say 60 and 50 in 2 games. Highly unlikely but looks like Covington will get fired or demoted. They should have hired Saleh but were too confident with Covington, Mayo and belichick and all 3 look like dummies.

Covington got a double promotion and is woefully under prepared.

AVP and Springer look like the best while peters has petered out as season progresses.

It’s hard to blame Peters for having players who keep making mental mistakes.
Based on what we know about him as a coach and his background I don’t want to put that squarely on him,

How about our new D line coach from Green Bay?
I can’t tell how he’s doing cause she schme is so bad.
I think Covington is gone regardless.
That may buy Mayo another season here.
Let’s say We fire Mayo but want to keep AVP on, chances are we will be hiring a coach who wants to install their own system.
Only way that may work is Kellen Moore, I’ve always liked Moore but it’s hard to grade him when Philly has a amazing O line a incredible o line couch in Southland and Saquan healthy and in his prime.

The 'donkey' is a rookie QB, Eberflus is (was) supposedly his head coach, just sayin'

They're in a similar situation as the pats, but it has very little to do with coaching. They need an offensive line. We have a fairly good pass rush, but it isn't 9 sacks good.

The difference is that they have good receivers. They're gonna ruin Caleb if they don't fix their personnel.

You're not wrong in terms of that being on Caleb, but as a head coach, if you're seeing your guy not make the right decision, you have to step in, and make the decision for him. Then all you can do is calm your guy down, and try and salvage whatever time is left while hopefully formulating a reasonable final play.

He just let the clock expire, and the game ended with them still having a timeout. That essentially sealed his fate.

He really has no excuse for yesterday. I was watching the game and saying “timeout, timeout” no idea what he was thinking. It was third down, so they couldn’t go quick or spike it, call TO, pick up the first down, then plenty of time left to spike it and set up the tying FG.

Once Cincy fires their HC, every HC that lost to the Pats this year, got fired!
