What's the point of this? We /could/ still have had him, and he can clearly catch the ball. Pretty sure I've seen a few fumbles out of our guys just like that this year.
But hindsight is everything.

I said i didn't think he was anything special last week before the fumble and how him not being here has zero impact on the fortunes of the Patriots so i don't care if he's gone.

This season isn't going to be lost because we traded young Scott Chandler

I have no idea whether he's Scott Chandler, better or worse. But he can apparently get open and catch the ball. Something no other TE on the roster other than Bennett can go. And Bennett is being held together with duct tape. So yeah, he might have had an impact if he was here. But we'll never know.

The problem is he wasn't catching here nor was he blocking.

If BB thought he could hack it here as a TE2 he'd still be here.
How would he be TE2 here with Bennett here? He wasn't playing because he was behind Gronk and Bennett. Clearly they thought enough of him to keep him around and the Broncos thought enough of him to give a fifth for him before he'd even played.

All we need is for AJ Derby to have huge games vs. Oakland and KC leading to wins.

He fumbled the game away for Denver and their playoff hopes. He sucks! Great trade Pats!

AJ Derby's importance to the 2016 season is about as important as mine

He's a mediocre TE who isn't gonna make a difference for anyone

Who on the 53 would you have cut to keep him?

He wasn't going to make it to the practice squad.

BB got a low draft pick instead of nothing.

All this gnashing of teeth for no reason.

I swear...have you folks learned nothing about how this team is run?

Derby became a bit of a binky of mine after those outrageous catches he made in traffic.

I wish him only the best except those times when he plays us.

Dont blame Belichick at all for the trade.

There is no hindsight involved here. People were saying that he is a bad blocker and he showed it again yesterday on a key sack he gave up.

The fumble was a bad play but his catching ability is not the reason we moved on. It's because he is a liability when blocking and we didn't need another big body receiver.
