This hasn't been a friendly forum about football for a few years...

Yet again, another smart ass post. I don't recall it not being a friendly forum... There are a few select people that like to argue about stupid s#IT.

Kind of like how you just tried to spin what he said into an argument? Him saying this place hasn't been friendly in a while wasn't a smart ass post at all.

who are you?

LOL at reading this whole thread. Nothing new here.

Your opinion of my writing style is noted, and I'll give it every single bit of consideration that I think it's worth.

Yes, clearly.

LOL...okay, that made me laugh...

I still think you are wrong, but that's the great thing about MB's - everyone has an opinion and everyone is entitled to it.

Because there is absolutely no evidence for that being BB's reasoning behind drafting McCourty. Assuming it as an indictment of Butler is premature and unfounded.

More likely, he wanted to:

1.) Increase explosiveness on ST returns
2.) Recognized you now need three starting-caliber DBs in today's NFL (this is where Bodden hurts).
3.) More depth, for the perennial injury bug

Typically, when the Pats draft a guy in the upper rounds they expect him to play at his position in year # 1.

Mayo, Seymour, Branch, Mankins, Wilfork.

Beyond Bodden, the Pats were very weak at CB last season. Manning and Brees feasted on NEs secondary. Wheatley hasnt stayed healthy and Butler really hasnt made a case to be opposite Bodden. Wilhite should be working at Home Depot.

I dont see McCourty as depth at all. I see him here to push people on the roster not named Bodden and surpass them for playing time to win the other CB position.

Yeah, McCourty will play some special teams to get acclimated to the game, but you do realize that BB and the Rutgers HC have been installing a NE type defense at Rutgers for a couple of years now?

McCourty was drafted to play CB and the sooner the better.

Is English your first language?

Why, yes it is. Thanks for asking.

I also studied History in school. You said that 2010 was going to be like 2000, the year that was the Prelude to our Dynasty. The Pats record that year was 5--11.... Thus, my question about history repeating itself, which was only asked in fun and assumed a sense of humor in addition to knowledge of the English Language.

Yes, but only Deus is right all the time!

Sadly, I'm all too human. For one thing, and to my lifelong shame, I said I was fine with the Springs signing even though I wasn't generally a fan of his game.
