[Old 2020 thread] NFL Free Agency/Trade Rumors:

according to Lombardi Wednesday the Broncos are ready to make a trade for a QB, and that it isn't Mariota or Darnold.....

Sorry not reality. Brady was injured this year too and is having knee surgery. The 2019 team had a top 10 defense, but the offensive weapons were worse than in 2018 and they weren't great then and the O-Line was banged up most of the season. They could have kept Brady and done much more for this year, but we're onto this years trades and free agents,
Brady’s barely practiced last year and his THROWING ELBOW was injured and it was obvious watching him throw the second half of the year when he completed 55% of his passes.
Had they kept Brady they would have not been able to keep thuney or McCourty in addition to all of the others they lost, and had no cap room available to add players. That’s a fact.

I’d offer the second for Lock who else are you getting with more Potential.
I think we should trade for Mariota before Houston or Washington does

so we would have lock, stidham and scaryota at the qb position next year, but no second round pick plus whatever it takes to trade for scaryota?

It's not a fact at all. They signed a bunch of guys they didn't need to sign after. They franchised Thuney before they offered Brady. We could have made $16 million in cap space by cutting guys who didn't even help us last year. The fact that BB franchised Thuney and THEN offered Brady tells us everything we need to know about his management of the cap.

i've seen that thrown around.....is it viable this soon?
I hope so. I'd love to see the Chiefs having to face Watson twice a year with a better defense and some weapons

Brady would have taken up more space than thuney and McCourty. We had about $6 left at one point. It’s math, you can’t lie about it.

We all did the math off of Miguel's numbers several months back and saw that they had $16m in space to maneuver and then they started signing FAs.

You're arguing against Belichick at this point. He would not have had to cut Thuney to sign Brady. How do I know this? Because he franchised Thuney and THEN offered Brady.

I’m not arguing anything. They had no cap space Brady would have taken up as much as thuney and McCourty.
He would have had to rescind the tag in that case.
