Very satisying win to watch and a very well coached game by the Pats. If Brady and Gronk had played, this would have been a blowout. The only thing I wish they would have done differently is put the trust in JAG to run the two minute offense just before the half.

Patfanken mentioned the refs as well. This is what I saw..

- When Ted Karras was called for holding, his head was being jacked backwards by the DT who had a hand full of facemask. I counted 2 other times that AZ defensive line had hands full of mask and weren't called. Illegal hands to the face by the D-line is supposed to be a penalty.. Was a major point of emphasis last season.

- A perfect example of holding called one way and not the other was in the 4th quarter when Bennett was called for a hold on the 3rd down pass to Edelman. Fast forward to David Johnson's great run. Jermaine Gresham did almost the exact same thing to Sheard that Bennett had done to the AZ DE (not sure if it was Jones or someone else) . Gresham didn't get called.

On a different note.. It really looked like Valentine lost his hold on Johnson because 2 other Patriots fell on him causing him to lose his grip on Johnson..
I just saw that play on the NFLN replay and that's exactly what happened.

I was concerned about what I saw in Bennett the last 2 preseason games. He was a beast blocking last night and when called upon to receive he did a huge job there too.

Offensive line did better than I had imagined given its lineup and the opposition. Props to them. Not great, but good enough against a very good team.

Long showed up like he had in the preseason.

The defensive backs missed some coverage, but overall had a very good game.

I thought the same thing but clearly they don't have that level of trust in him yet.

I'll say. Always knew he was a good player but man he has a motor. WOW.

The idea that Coleman would be cut was silly. He is a fine 3rd CB in my opinion.

I never had him on my cut list but his pre-season was 2015 Logan Ryan's pre-season. Just out of sync and getting burned on the inside and outside consistently.

With that said he played great last night.

Wonder if Perlilo is gonna question Bennett's effort in this game. You know because Bennett wasn't putting it all on the line in the week 4 preseason game.

-Was really impressed with our wide receivers
-thought Jimmy played very well
-thought Flemming accounted well for himself
- Bennett is a much better blocker than I thought
-Great game by White
-I thought Cannon and Andrews were up and down, especially Cannon late in the game
-Ryan had a rough 4th quarter
-this defense still makes me nervous in crunch time

Overall. a good performance against a really good team on the road.

I think that will come over the next three weeks but last night it was absolutely the right decision to play conservative at the end of the half. The offense was slowed down, Jimmy had turned the ball over once...you don't want to have him toss an interception deep in your own territory and cause the other team to tie the game or take the lead and rattle the kid when he'd started off well.

Agree. I'll blame stamina as the pass rush was non-existent. AZ looked gassed as well.

I don't worry about the defense especially in week 1. Should all by now how Belichick coached teams aren't the finish product in the first few games

I wonder how much Collins leap on the previous kick attempt weighed on the center's mind during the botched snap.

I was thinking the same thing when it happened. He had already tries it an earlier PAT, and he was moving around like he might go on the FG attempt.

Quite possibly a factor in the miss.

Cannon played through injury late in the game...
