I thinking people who are really getting their hopes up for Mac to start on September 12 are going to be disappointed. Nothing we have seen out of Belichick’s actions even hints there was a real QB competition for the start of the season. And tonight showed that. Cam played with the ones and when the ones were pulled, that is when Jones went in.
I think Jones will eventually be the starter this year possibly by the end of October, but there is zero evidence it will be September 12.
If you mean: "Do we need any more proof Mac shouldn’t start?" that doesn't mean what you seem to think it means. It certainly doesn't indicate you think Mac should start.
I don’t worry about this. His first real game action in college was replacing Tua when knocked out vs Auburn. Mac threw 2 pick-6’s. Did not get fazed, kept Bama in the game with a chance to win. It did not ruin him, and a tough start here won’t either.
Starting the game was a good sign. But playing this deep means they‘re definitely the bubble guys that they wanted to get a good long look at today. Anderson showing up as a pass rusher can only help his cause (even if it’s against the Giants 2s).
Prediction: Belichick f’s with the media, won’t name a starter, closes practice and inserts Mac as #1 on Tuesday and we find out when he runs out on the field in 2 weeks.
OK...all offseason the argument has been..."Cam should start the first four/five games...Mac won't be ready, won't be able to take the pounding of a full season..." OK...that's bullshyt. Mac is playing a lot right now and showing the tenacity and bounce back of a seasoned veteran. Go with the kid NOW IMO. He's not going to get beat down or lose his confidence or any of that other Sam Darnold crapola rationalizations. Mac was drafted to be the QB, now he needs to START the season as the Pats #1 QB. We don't need Cam's running ability, we got that covered with these explosive rookies. NOW is the time for Mac.

Okay, you really need to stop making the post I make before I get a chance to make them and look smart. I mean, what the hell is your problem buddy?

No, he did not. His preseason was better than Mallet but worse than Jimmy G. His numbers looked good, but his command, accuracy, and reaction time did not.
