I don't mind that sack on 3rd and 17. It wouldn't effect the punt much. May as well hold on as long as you can, try to escape and hope someone gets free in that position.
I think he is superior, but that doesn’t mean Belichick will want to start him week one. I am guessing Belichick is concerned that he won’t last an entire season his rookie year coming from an 11 games college season to a 17 game season in the NFL. And there is a benefit for him listening to McDaniels call the offense from the sidelines.
Belichick is never concerned as much about early games as he is as the season goes along and he isn’t going to risk Jones’ long term development for a few games. I don’t think he will rush Jones to start.
And Jones Is the future. You put what is best for his development long term over short term wins.
Just for the sake of conversation - that could've also been to try to get more reps on Cam. Mac was gaming last week without Cam, Cam only got so many snaps in joint practices. So he gives Cam the snaps with the 1's to try to even the opportunity out.
Obviously that might just be BS but it's a thought.
Do they need to play this 'who has my back' commercial on every commercial break? Are they worried we won't know when football season starts? Like we watch the NFL network without knowing that information?
