I did not know that. Even still the TV money is the biggest piece of the pie.
In some cases, maybe. But I'm pretty sure Channel 4 pays a pretty penny to Kraft Productions for their package. I dunno how many other teams have their own production companies. The pre and postgame, and the Patriots Weekly show are all part of that package. (This is why we get commercials exclusively from partners with the Patriots, and Josh Kraft campaign commercials, rather than the usual circulation of commercials you'd get during non-Patriots NFL games)

Watched the game via a Vikings local channel. They had set up a hot mic with KOC for the 3rd quarter. It was really interesting listening to his live interactions and comments on plays and how they developed. He was speaking to the announcers and answering their comments. Do the local NE stations do anything like that.

Any guesses for the highest pass blocking PFF grade on the Pats? Sidy Sow. Give the man a chance.
I'll give him a chance to clean out his locker before I send HR with the cops to escort him out of the complex.

BTW- EVERY coach says that.
Most do. The best ones mean it. Predicting whether adolescent men will do well in the brutal crucible that is NFL football is a VERY uncertain business, and you have to be open to the substantially likely possibility that the guy you drafted high may not be the guy you really need.

We got live interviews with Josh McDaniels and Jeremy Springer during the game, so yes and no. For *us* that never happened before, to everyone else, it's so 2013.

Well that’s a nice thing for Vrabel and Wolfe to say but it’s not true. Contracts and the cap matter.
Not as much as the actual quality of the player. I mean, they're not out there on the field swapping paperwork or comparing bank accounts, right?

What happens when he faces DBs who dont get juked out of their shorts?

A whole different view of Chism.
That same question was probably asked of Edelman and it turned out alright.

You and I disagree. I think that it bothered Maye that Milton was drafted last year. And, yes, I think he was bothered by all the talk of Milton being a good backup, and even more bothered that Milton might be as good as he was in the future.
I didn’t realize there was so much talk in the local and national media during the offseason on how good Milton was. I know once he was traded there was quite a bit of debate on this site.

Well he’s a Wes Welker or Danny Admendola clone, how did they do with top defenders on them?

Yeah? Well he’s a 7th round QB from Kent frigging State, he won’t be able to juke real NFL defenders out of their shorts. Just another training camp wonder that does nothing when the real bullets start flying.

So maybe the Pats want to bite the bullet and start working Wilson in at center now?

Maybe they think they have better LG candidates to pair with Wilson at center, than they do with the other current centers on the roster to pair with Wilson at guard.

Paying Milton alot of money.....where's the beef thou?
With the Pats recent history they needed to overpay get FAs to come here.

If things go as we are hoping, with good reason, NE will be a desirable destination for FAs.

Well they get the shared money from the TV deal, but preseason games go right to the owner, they don't share that money.
Anyone know preseason vs regular season game TV revenue? Given the owners and the NFLPA traded a pre-season game for a regular season game, I would think the latter brings in much more revenue.

Interesting analysis pointing out a couple Maye missed opportunities.

that's what we found a lot last year too. It's like Maye takes chances a few too many times when it's not right, and then is too worried about a bad pass to throw to great opportunities. I mean, those 2 looks are WIDE open - on the first one - it's also Williams on the left side that is breaking so free. Brady would be salivating to get WR's that break open like that. Maye has got to revert a bit to his more instinctual ability to just rip it. I know he's thinking a lot right now, and trying to do the right thing, but I hope JMD will encourage him to see it and just do it.

Didn't Eliot Wolf try to introduce his new system?
He wanted to, but it was too late to change things at that point. [Remember the original plan was for BB to coach '24 and then retire, so I assume the changes in draft process would've happened for the 2025 draft regardless.]

Dominating backups means that if they get called upon to replace a starter due to injury or otherwise, they’re likely able to be at least solid.
THIS!

No team is 100% starters only AND with injuries guaranteed to effect the season having backups where the drop off is LESS than other teams' drop off is necessary.

That's also why the argument of Chism just dominating backups therefore he won't unseat Baker or Bourne for the #6 receiver is likewise just guesswork versus provable fact.

I agree the top four are locks Diggs, Douglas, Boutte and Hollins. Williams (if he isn't now IR with designation) is likely #5 and Chism #6. Neither Bourne nor Polk offer ST and Baker while trying hard cant bring the production at WR even if he's doing the ST thing. They might be able to IR Bourne with designation now too BTW. And do we really CARE if someone picks up Polk and or Baker off the PS or waivers??????

A team needs #2s to be a part of the 53. You simply cannot have a solid - possibly mid-level wins (7-9) to low playoff season without them.
