If they played Onwenu at RT since week1 and had kept Gilmore by giving a little $, I think this could have been a playoff team. But the staff isn't good around BB so here we are at 3-4.
Team has beat up on the Jets twice and Texans. Can they beat 1 good team this season? Hope so.
Nice to see the best result of the year. Offense started clicking. Lots of positives, but I'm pointing out the negative areas we still need to fix before we can beat the next slate of teams:
- Mills is aggravating. Too many stupid mistakes. Very streaky.
- D did well against a useless Jets O, but we still couldn't get any sacks. (with athletic QB's that can escape, we need to improve)
- Bolden did well in the screens, but they have to stop handing off to him for TFLs.
- Jones down, now DMC. We really need Williams and Bryant to step up.
- JMD issues -
- I like the aggression of the trick plays, but don't need 4 in a game we're dominating. Don't show everything vs. 1-5 team.
- Don't like going away from Harris in the midst of 2-3 quarters, then when trying to re-start it, not as sharp.
- Too many "drain-the-well" calls. Smith in the first 2 drives, Bolden in the 3rd.
While I agree in regards to Mills, I believe he's playing hurt. He played with a hamstring that wasn't 100%. When he was 100%, he was excellent.
I was surprised they didn't elevate Ross to take over the Slot Corner position for Jones. Pats have 1 space open. Wouldn't be surprised if they added Brian Poole or DJ Hayden as early as tomorrow.
Pats will take a big hit if they're forced to put DMac on the IR.

I saw McCourty smiling on the sidelines so hopefully that is a good sign. DJ Hayden is intriguing. I believe he is a former 1st round pick if I remember correctly. He excelled at tackling.

So disappointed about Smith. the guy can't catch a break. Finally got clicking, showing what he can add to this team, and gets hurt.
Hoping it's not a shoulder tear, maybe just being cautious? Otherwise, it's finally Asiasi-time.
See what this offense can do when the offense actually plays well. Or plays at all. Sure, this is the Jets' defense and not the Rams' defense. But the o-line gave Jones plenty of protection and opened holes (sometimes massive) for Harris. And the Jets have a good front four. If Trent Brown comes back next week, put him at LT and move Wynn inside. Keep the rest of today's o-line the same as this week.
As for Jones, I wasn't that impressed with him early. He did throw a couple of bad throws that could have been picked and threw to receivers who were blanketed. But he answered a lot of his critics today. He showed he can throw down the field and hit players in stride to make big plays (a lot of YAC today). Granted it is the Jets. But he was making big plays and finding the right check downs to exploit the defense. I always blamed some of his biggest issues so far on the o-line and today seems to have justified that.
Credit McDaniels for a more aggressive offense finally. I didn't like that he was trying to force the ball to Smith too much early trying to get him involved, but there was no timidity in letting Jones throw the ball down the field and in the red zone and any lack of creativity. They obviously won't score 54 points every week or even again this season, but I think with good o-line play and more aggressiveness with the play calling there is no reason this offense cannot score in the high 20s or low 30s based on the play today. I do worry that this offense would have had different results if Smith didn't go down though. They were a more dynamic offense after they switched out of the 12 personnel.
I do hope Bolden's success today doesn't give McDaniels a false sense of security in him. It was right to make him a focal point of the offense this week because the Jets just didn't defend him properly. I think better defenses would sniff out those screens and shut down Bolden.
I am not worried about how well White did against the Pats early in the second quarter. When a QB who hasn't played comes off the bench like that, it is hard to know how to best scheme against him. Once Little Belichick got a feel for the Jets' offense under White, he quickly shut them down.
I am still concerned about Mills as the the starter outside. I think he can be an excellent third CB in the slot, but he got burned several times that could have resulted in a big play with a better QB.
I know people have said this many times before, the Jets are going to ruin Zach Wilson. He isn't at BYU anymore. They need to rein him in and teach him when it is good for him to scramble out of the pocket and try to hit the home run and when to stay in the pocket and pick up a nice 5-7 yard pass. He was better than he was in week 2 today, but still seems to try to hit a home run on every pass. It might have put him on the IR today. If he doesn't have a serious injury, they need to just force him to make plays from the pocket.
Just get Meyers a freakin' TD already. Not only do I wish the kid would have one for him and his father, I am sick of all the broadcasters harping on it every game.
Still not sure how well our secondary played today. They did give up some big plays inside the 20s, but only allowed two TDs. But it was Zach Wilson and Mike White throwing the ball.
In the next four games, the Pats could be 6-5 or 7-4 if they can play like this. Mayfield will likely be out. The Panthers suck now after starting out great. Only the Chargers look to be as good as we thought now.
