PostGame Thread Official Post Game Thread- Pats beat the Texans

Immediate Postgame Reactions
This was absolutely a gift wrapped win by the Texans. Patriots aren't good but the Texans are really really bad.

The offense had its moments but still too many fumbles drop passes and penalties for my liking. At least the offensive line held.

There's really nothing good I can say about the defense. They let a rookie quarterback and a practice squad guy shred them up. I can't imagine how bad next week's going to be when they play Dallas.
If you want to find good in the defense look at the adjustments they made and how their played after the first drive of the second half

Not going to try to talk up this win like it was some great accomplishment, but here's two things in this thread I take exception to:

Culley gave us this game with the punt, 57 yard field goal, etc.

The reality is that we weren't good at all. Our secondary is suspect, run defense stinks. Coaching is bad, I still don't like what I see from Mac when he throws more than 15 yards down the field.

This is one of those games where you say "a win is a win", but then you lose two straight and wonder why...

This win confirms that we're only going to get 4-6 wins this year.

Really? The run defense stinks? 2.8 yards per carry, what more can they do in that area? The problem on defense was in a lot of places, but they consistently kept the Texans ground game under control. This sounds to me like you came in with the idea the run defense stinks and only remembered the plays you want to remember.

Interesting to see what Prescott and Herbert will do against this secondary.

Or a guy like Tom Brady. He'll probably put a 50 burger on us, right!? It NEVER works that way. The NFL is week to week and matchup to matchup. Gotta play MUCH better against them, but these results are never a foregone conclusion.

An ugly win is better than a pretty loss.

I'll disagree with others, just on the eye test - don't think Mac played all that well today, compared to other games. If the Texan DBs could catch, he'd have had like 5 picks. Credit for Lovey Smith - I think he had Mac fooled a lot.

I want Cajuste to stick around - He's better than their #3 and 4OTs.

Things to learn. Move forward. They really needed a W here. Next week, we'll have to unleash Stevenson and Taylor, I think. Harris got wrecked.
Want to see him but he may be better than what you have written here. Need to go against premium rushers for eval. That offseason OL were over hyped.

- The 4 backup OL should be very proud of that performance. TEX DL is not what it used to be, but they did as well as the starters have the last 2 weeks (which isn't saying much). Question is - what OL mix will they go with going forward? Did any starter lose their job?
- Worried about Harris - health for the next couple weeks, and fumbles at the goal line.
- Some "letdown" mistakes and lack of focus across the board that smelled like trap game - not mentally tough team yet
- Henry and Folk were the players of the game
- Bolden sucks in general, but had his best career moment with that final run for the 1st
- Can't tell whats wrong with the play calling/rhythm of the offense. We have parts of series that start clicking, and then some really questionable sequences where we stall out.
- We can't already take Mac for granted. What he's doing to remain consistent, clutch, poised, tough, in his 5th game is rare. This was his first comeback win in the NFL, but he made it look natural. This kid has what it takes.

Best news out of the day:

Hunter Henry and Mac Jones are becoming best friends.
Yodne Cajuste can play OT in the NFL - this is huge.
3rd Up: A-blitz by Jamie Collins.

Pats somehow beat the Cowboys - not ready to say they will but if that happens - then good chance they’re 4-3 going to LA.

Up
Mac
Judon
Folk

Down
Mental mistakes
Fumbling
DBs first half

Can Josh put the wildcat at the very back of the playbook? We don’t need to be doing that stuff right now. IMO.

I thought he was really great in PS - getting to the second guy and pancaking him.. He's very strong and pretty quick on his feet. I liked the pick and thought it might be one of those "he's hurt" steals. It would be HUGE for this team going forward if he's a legitimate NFL tackle. brown is out for at least 3 weeks - will he be back at all?

And Cajuste, if he can do it, gives them one less big hole to fill next year.

Mac Jones is going to shatter the completion percentage record.
