We have to give Mac credit for not following the bad trend of QB's wearing the Michael Jackson glove.

I know this is Negativity HQ, but I was much happier with the offense today after the first few series. They started going quicker plays, they got Hunter Henry and Jonnu involved in the game and didn’t have an INT.

That shot downfield to Henry was so pretty.

Que the poster who will say "but he can't set the edge bro".
He’s not very good at it. However, the AP doesn’t really care about edge-setting, now do they? It’s all about sacks, picks & touchdowns. He’s on pace for 21.5 sacks. Unlikely, but he’s playing out of his sleeves right now.

Unless they fix the o-line, there is no QB who can do well in this offense. How many first downs today did the Pats run the ball and get stuffed at or behind the line? That isn't on Mac Jones. When you are consistently having 10-12 yards on second down, you are already putting the QB behind the ball.

Jones had his problems today, but he was also hindered by a miserable o-line and some crappy play calling.

Look at some of the first downs today:

  • 1st & 10 at NE 25

    (14:54 - 1st) R.Stevenson left tackle to NE 23 for -2 yards (D.Buckner).
  • 1st & 10 at NE 9
    (11:15 - 1st) R.Stevenson up the middle to NE 4 for -5 yards (B.Okereke).
  • 1st & 10 at IND 38
    (14:54 - 2nd) K.Bourne right end to IND 37 for 1 yard (R.McLeod).
  • 1st & 10 at NE 34
    (13:14 - 3rd) J.Taylor right tackle to NE 31 for -3 yards (G.Stewart).
  • 1st & 10 at NE 32
    (8:23 - 4th) J.Taylor left tackle to NE 30 for -2 yards (G.Stewart).
When you are running on first down and you aren't getting yards or losing yards, that is the o-line and the play calling.
They were run blitzing all first down. Mac didn't change the play to take advantage

People always like to say Drew Brees, but he is one out of 100s. So we want to take a chance with a less than a 1% chance? Statistically it is really unlikely a QB that is less than or equal to 6' tall will be successful.
Doug Flutie, Russell Wilson, Tua, Kyler Murray

Definitely not his strength but at least he tries. Had a great one on the 4th down to open the 4th quarter - rushed toward the QB, saw the toss to the outside RB and immediately stopped, ran horizontally, and wound up tackling the guy well short of the 1st down marker. Nice play for him there.

Red Zone play-calling continues to be garbage.
The design is just as baffling.

Example: the only time you run play action is with either a bubble or TE screen? The entire purpose of play action is to freeze the LBs close to the line of scrimmage to be able to throw the ball beyond them NOT in front of them????????

I'm coming around regarding the "learning on the job" for the new OC being an error.
