Bill is the guy who sat the veteran pro bowl $200m QB for a 6th rounder.
Bill doesn’t give a **** about feelings - the only time I ever remember him guaranteeing a start was when Jimmy G took the first 4 games in 2016 for brady
That's interesting that you remember Jimmy G starting 4 games in 2016. I say that because Garappolo only started 2 games in 2016 for the Pats.. He got injured in the 2nd one with the rookie Jacoby Brissett finishing it and starting games 3 and 4.
Really, he was the best rookie qb last year and there was one that was taught-ed as a generational talent. Make played behind a lousy line last year and the beginning of this year. Zap has played TWO games behind a much improved o-line

Before people run Mac out of town on a rail, I want them to think about the Chargers giving up on Drew Brees too quickly in favor of a pouter. Bailey ain't no pouter. I want to see this competition play out. I don't care if they're both on the roster for the next 3 years.
Washington’s done a ton wrong since Snyder took over, but one thing I think they did well was drafting RGIII and Kirk Cousins in the same draft. While they pissed away all the benefits of it with everything else about the franchise, they were able to get some pretty decent QB play out of that. Unless either guy winds up causing locker room issues, it would do us well to keep them both around for as long as possible and have them push each other. And if the starter gets hurt again, we’d have a good backup QB situation for the next several years.
They better treat TT like he's porcelain. I don't really need to know if he's a tough dude or not. Just needs to be healthy for the rest of his Pats career. I think they've finally found a speed guy who has it going on upstairs. They really should just draft a TE/WR every year who'd been a QB before.

I just cannot imagine Bill caring about feelings here - Mac threw 5 interceptions in 3 games. Zappe has turned the ball over once.
Regardless this team has some real spice - I love it
I don't think Belichick would be afraid to start Zappe over Mac if he thinks Zappe is better. I just am not convinced he feels that way. At least not yet.
And he unequivocally said Cam was the starter when asked, week-after-week, when he was playing atrociously, despite having Stidham and Hoyer behind him.
People are claiming BB would never commit to a player/name them the starter, but that’s demonstrably false.
When he was asked who the starter will be and said something along the lines of “I don’t do hypotheticals, we’ll see when we get to that point”, I took him to mean just that.
Not sure WTF happened with Wynn. Maybe he's POed at being moved to RT, but he's regressed so much it's ridiculous. The only concern I have with trading him is that the Pats don't currently have an adequate LT replacement for Trent Brown unless they kick Strange out to LT. In fact, the roster is LIGHT at Tackle currently with Cajuste on IR.

I really like how elusive zappe seems to be compared to Mac. That first pressure where he had to roll out, it looks like he stiff armed his rusher to the ground.
For all the hype that he wasn't as athletic as Jones, I think that Zappe moves around in the pocket very well and has the speed to pick up yardage if needed.
Just want to say I'm rooting for the Bills right now, and I almost never do, but I hate all the Chiefs (except for Mahomes and Karlaftis) and I hope that last game of the year against the Bills is meaningless for them.
Uh Huh. Not what you said originally and I question if you really know the history. If you did, you'd know that the situations are completely different.
Mac needs to be given another chance. The line is playing much better with more continuity even tho Wynn still sucks. Play calling has been a lot more better as well.
I believe he will get another chance when he's ready, but he's got to be on an incredibly short leash. If the picks continue after Zappe goes 3+ games without throwing one that wasnt 100% Agholor's fault, the job should no longer be his.

Well, unfortunately if Belichick chooses Zappe, the Raiders have made a big long term commitment to Carr. I could see McDaniels giving up a first for Mac otherwise.
I was just kidding but it’s never a bad thing to have two young quarterbacks who accrue good quality film as starters, for the QB-needy teams to chew on while they ponder their void at starter. See:
G, Jimmy
Cassel, Matt
Flynn, Matt
Johnson, Rob
As they say, it’s a good problem to have. Tampa is probably going to need a new starter by next offseason….if not sooner.
It’s early and I’m by no means an expert at analyzing quarterbacks but to me Zappe seems to be another example of a “non-athletic” QB who just has a natural ability to recognize the (non-blind side) pressure and to not only move around in a pocket but in particular move into the right voids in that pressure, spaces that still allow the QB to make an accurate throw when/if the receiver comes open.
He doesn’t look like he is running for his life and isn’t looking behind/around him to see which monsters are fast approaching. Instead, he seems to have the ability to remain calm and keeps his eyes focused down the field.
Maybe, but sadly he really was the best option. Hoyer has a history of folding under pressure. Stidham has more career INTs than Zappe without an NFL start. We’ll see, maybe that was really the reason, but it’s an interesting situation anyway….
Mac is a first rounder who had a VG rookie year and is on a 4 year contract that makes sense for the team. There is much to be seen before fans start speculating about trades.
There is no denying : Zappe vs Mac THIS year so far looks good for the rookie. But I’d be interested in BB’s analysis of WHY it’s been better lately. It might be Zappe. But it also might be « the supporting crew »…
