This is why, if the Pats are going to do it they need a clean break right now. They're better off doing it too early than too late, just as Bill would do with some players.

The worst part of this fiasco is if the Pats had any offense they might have been able to make a run in the AFC this year, even with the toughest schedule in the NYFL. All of the AFC teams look vulnerable compared to other seasons, though KC has an incredibly easy schedule.
I agree, i have no faith in Bill to use a high draft pick and the cap money next year wisely going from the past few years.

I think this team does a 360 with Zappe. He hasn't look any better than Mac and he is getting opportunities. Both Qbs are missing wide open WR at times.
Remember Zappe was Mop up Mac got the Lion's share of the #1 snaps Zappe has an excuse. Let Zappe cook Mac's meals are school lunch nasty.

this sack was completely on Mac having mental meltdowns again

If you do a normal 3-5 yard dropback in this situation, you could have stepped up in the pocket to avoid the rush and buy yourself some time.
Instead mac goes so far behind that he can't step up in the pocket. Watch the clip, there was plenty of room to step up

He's in a shotgun doing an 8 step drop. You can see both tackles did not expect him to drop back so deep.

These Mac fans are insufferable.

I'm not a In Bill We Trust guy. Never was. The buck stops with BB.
I'm not a In Any Coach I Trust guy. Never was. In the end they all need to look in the mirror.

It's tough because with just a decent offense they could have something. I'm still unsure of Mac but there was one pass to Henry that epitomized the problem. Mac tried to get one in there but there just wasn't room and it went over Henry and was close to an INT. He also doesn't seem to be accurate on long passes and there just doesn't seem to be any separation. That's on both the players and coaches.

It's going to be a tough year but the Pats have built up a whole lot of cache with this fan, so I'll just grin and bear it.

It's called poor pocket presence saw that in his Rookie year still seeing it now. DE's can take to wide around the world angle and still get to Mac.

Look at Trent Brown. Lowe loses on the play, but Brown is guiding the DE past the QB's spot when he sees Mac is there and then tries to get a hand on the defender. Just look at where he sets and how he only widens the rusher's path. No way he expected Mac to be that deep.

the max excuser club will not see this

there was 0 reason for such a deep drop and with this OT situation deep drops are not very smart as it limits your ability to step up completely

Sure glad they just gave Brown a two million dollar bump in pay to not actually play in games. I usually tip the maitre d a twenty spot to show me quickly to my seat. The Pat tipped Brown $2 million to show DEs quickly to the QB.

Trent Brown totally quit yesterday. Not a time to be pumping up Brown’s technique.

Rodney's comments at the end are very telling. There's no leadership in the locker room. There's no one there with the championship hunger.

That's a thing that drives me nuts with Mac. Way back a thousand years ago I thought I might be a QB. Got some practice snaps but that's it. A key coaching point was on the drop to go to the full depth and then immediately bounce forward from the apex. The idea was to drop to set a target for the rushers and then move up a bit to give the [edit]ends tackles(of course) space to guide the rushers around you. Mac takes his drop and then sets an anchor at the apex. He has no feel for where the sweet spot of the pocket is. If he's sometimes in it it's strictly by happenstance, not by design. Who's coaching his mechanics?

Those Rodney comments are a mix of him sniffing his own farts over the "Patriot way" and a dumbass "kids these days" point. They suck because they're not talented enough. That's it. It's about time we stop pretending penalties, lack of execution in crunch time, turnovers are questions of "mental toughness", "culture" or whatever. When the Patriots had great players, they executed, now they don't have them, so they don't. Ever wonder why the defense appears way more prepared than the offense even in weeks in which they don't perform their best? Because they have better talent and better schemes. I just can't with the "Patriot Way" stuff, they don't suck because they refuse to listen to Bill or whatever.

It's a players game now more than ever

He plays quarterback as if he had John Elway's physical talent. Mahomes often drops deeper than the call because he's seeing something in the defense that makes him believe he'll have down field opportunities and they won't align with the called drop, but he has the lateral quickness to evade the rush by escaping the pocket and the vision to climb up if the tackles get beat quickly, aside from the arm to make the throw to any point in the field. Mac just needs to play the play. He needs to be fundamentally perfect. He has to throw from a solid base, he has to drop to his point and take a hitch to be on the correct timing, he can't be loose with fundamentals because he doesn't have the physical attributes to be. Aaron Rodgers can throw seeds with both his legs parallel to the line of scrimmage, Mac Jones needs to put his whole lower body into a throw to reach adequate NFL arm strength. And these issues aren't recent, they've just become more pronounced and more frequent recently, but the wonky footwork stuff was already there at Alabama.

All of your points are true. We all can see it; and see it not getting better. Again, who's tasked with coaching his mechanics?

In general, who on the O staff is getting the job done coaching-wise? It is as bad as last year. After a tiny tease of improvement early, there's been nothing but full spectrum regression.
