Personally, I'm fine with suffering through a horrific season if it lands us a generational QB (you simply can't win without one in today's NFL) and the winds of organizational change blow through.

BB has had his, it's time to move on.

A generational QB can actually elevate a more middling WR group, and if they have rushing or scrambling ability then they mitigate a below average OL as well. Drake Maye with this OL is probably fine.

C'mon, anyone being objective can say that Mac and the Patriots offense will most likely play better vs the Raiders than they did against two of the top defenses in the league in the Cowboys and Saints. That isn't really going on a limb to defend Mac Jones.

I think we need to keep playing Mac so we can try to get #1 overall. This team desperately needs a talent overhaul. When you’re so bad that your fans are struggling to find even a single asset they can trade for fair value, its a situation that’s begging for a tank job.

I've always kind of thought the worst thing that happened to Mac Jones in his career was making the pro-bowl as a rookie alternate.

Bill needed the guy who was starving to prove he was successful after not being able to beat out Tua or Hurts for a job at Alabama... Not the guy who thought he new more about offense than his NFL coaches after one season.

Turns out doing nothing in the off-season to improve the offense, and trading up for a K and P might not have been good decisions . Arguably the least talented roster in the league.

The Saints’ kicker and punter are both undrafted rookies. Several commentators remarked how they like the Aussie punter.

Not taking a freefalling RT in Dawand Jones—a position of need—and a developmental LT in round 4 in Jaelyn Duncan or Carter Warren are critical errors. We had two picks in the fourth and they ended up being the lackluster kicker (that we traded up for) and a guy to maybe replace Andrews in Jake Andrews.

Bill the GM has killed off Bill the coach. This was a comment that in yesteryear would draw automatic opprobrium. Now, however, it goes unremarked.

Who can contest it?

Undoubtedly, there's deeper problems than just the QB but I'd rather have one with a complete skillset than what Mac offers. FTR, I still think Mac could succeed but the talent level around him needs to be Alabama-level, and Bill simply won't subscribe to that kind of approach.
