Yup. Davis' issues have never been about his play. He's not a three-down DL, but for early down run stopping, he's been good for three seasons now. The problem is he's only been able to stay on the field for a handful of games at a time, and he got hurt again last night. Counting on him to play a near-full season might be a fool's errand.
How many concussions has Davis had in his career so far? I think I recall several.

Nobody else on the roster can do this to a defense. He won with speed deep & route running near the goal line. It’d benefit the other skill position players if he was out on the field week 1 IMO.

On Tyquan's first deep pass that was dropped, Hoyer made a bad throw. Thornton had his man roasted, but had to slow down for the pass.

We should ALL be excited for the potential of how he can create big plays this season.

y That seems like an odd reaction. I thought we saw a fair number of Patriots blitzes as well, but maybe they're just standing out in my head and weren't nearly as frequent as I remember.
A birth under fire for Zappe. He's got a lot of room to develop and grow, but he handled his first NFL snaps pretty well.

Terrence Mitchell gives me good vibes. I think we have a scrappy player with him who will hold his own. He’s no Jackson but could be a nice fill in for this year.
I was also similarly impressed with Elliot. We may not have the stellar DB to lock up an island, but we seem to have good competitive depth.

Will Mac attack play next game? I don’t think I can watch another game of French pastry chef Zappe throwing the football

@Wozzy reading this...

lol

The funny part is he has always been good for us at NT when healthy, going back to 2020... most people just don't watch DT play.

I am not against moving Meyers he might be easiest to move based on contract. We want guys who can consistently make plays down the field and he's definitely the slowest of the bunch no YAC whatsoever. I'm for the Youth movement @ WR. I have a feeling Kristian Wilkerson may be better than regarded.
Meyers hate is mostly rooted in perception, and rarely in fact. Statistically he’s been a productive reciever +20 yards down field.

+20 Catches over last 3 years (Meyers Career)

Parker 38
Meyers 32
Agohlor 29
Bourne 21
Henry 21
Smith 17
Wilkerson 1
Nixon 0
Thornton 0

For comparison Edelman had 31 from 15-18. This was the best stretch of his career as a full time starter with the GOAT. Meyers played 30% snaps first season and %70 second.

He’s only 1 year older than Wilkerson and 2 years older than Nixon. He is 1 year younger than Bourne and 3 years younger than agoholr and Parker. I think the arrow still looks points up. Bourne, Agholor, and Parker have been in the NFL longer than Meyers has been playing WR (including college).

Perkins was invisible I guess.. so most likely foxborough flu for him or prolly gets cut and lands in PS ...

Nixon will be claimed as soon as he is released.. GB .. raiders .. bears .

Nixon could potentially be our next Edelman .. I would want them to offer him an extension and if not possible to play, get him on foxborough flu and stash him on PUP till we swing a trade for Meyers /agholor.

I am not convinced Parker will last the Season. So better to have Meyers as he is durable.

Trade agholor and Wynn and with cap savings get a better OT if available in market .

We need to get tyquan the reps..

Jennings was real good yesterday.
Joejuan is cut, myles Bryant , Elliott , Humphrey, K Harris, Carl davis would be released and signed into PS if unclaimed. Sam roberts is on foxborough flu this season.
Nixon isn't eligible to go on the PUP list. No one who has practiced is.

Good points. I don’t hate Meyers. Just don’t love him to death. He’s solid. And unexciting. He is what he is, I don’t expect him to change much. He might get better at doing what he does but I don’t think what he does will change. He’s never going to be a game breaking WR1. He’s like a racehorse that consistently wins $25,000 claimers, good quality but never going to win a stakes race. If we keep Meyers and cut either Nixon or Wilkerson, in a couple of years they’ll be doing well somewhere else while Meyers keeps on doing the same here and we‘ll be hearing about how we let them get away not about how well Meyers is doing.

Preseason week 2 is the new Preseason week 3. He and all the starters will be out there for a half unless someone gets hurt.

IIRC Perkins had a PBU when he was able to bat a ball down while rushing. Giants QB rolled to his left and Perkins was charging him in the open field. Pass was unloaded while Perkins was several yards away and he batted it down. I remember thinking it was a good demonstration of speed and athleticism.

Agree totally about Nixon. I’d consider extending both him and K-Dub (Hoyer’s nickname for Wilkerson). Locking them both in at a cheap salary would make Meyers expendable IMO. Meyers is more reliable but not enough more to justify being more expensive. Meyers is what he is, no upside while the young guys are not only cheaper they may still have lots of potential improvement remaining. Worth taking a shot on, as far as I’m concerned. But I’ll trust BB to make the best decisions for the team about that.
No upside for the guy who's gotten better every year he's been in the league.

I knew you'd like that from Lazar as we were giving you a hard time with Davis just recently.
