Splurging doesn't always equal success ...if it did then Dan Snyder would probably have at least 4 rings right now...you got to hit the jackpot on nearly EVERY expensive addition
While the D wasn't the reason we lost, they didn't look very together in clutch moments.
I mean, Hill is crazy, but Dolphins offense is not a top 15, maybe not even a top 20.
So, our pass D is going to have step up.
Well, we are not great at signing free agents and seem to go for upper middle caliber of free agents and that spectacularly flops.
Though hunter Henry was decent, I am still not seeing any benefits of the synergy of two top end tight ends .
Same is the case with agholor as well . So really wary of how belichick might end up spending next season. If we flop spectacularly this season ,it might be better to be conservative next off-season and load up for 2024 . I know it sounds negative, but if we end up screwing cap space for 2023 like 2021 we are doomed for another 5 years . We need to have a better GM.
I am reasonably ok with how the D played. IMO the issue was the offensive mistakes and lack of execution. Looking forward to a better performance by them against the Steelers.
Anybody wondering about the level of play Mason had last year, PFF ranked him #2 out of all Guards. I’m not a huge fan of PFF as they have some weird grading, but the narrative of him being traded because his play slipped might not be too accurate.

That has nothing to do with whether it was a rainbow. It was. Your basing you high velocity based on what. The Tim it took on TV to leave Mack’s had until Bourne caught it. Show you math. Yes Allen throws rainbows on deep balls too So what? Look at the angle of the ball when it leaves Mack’s had and when it drops int Bourne’s hand. It was nothing like a rope. It doesn’t mean Jones has a weak arm and doesn’t show he has a strong arm.
A pair of teams with questionable offensive lines that are learning under new coaching/.systems, and played like it. It's week one. The Giants just beat the Titans.
The question to be answered is going to be about improvement, and rapid improvement. Next week isn't a must win game, but it sort of seems like one when you look at the remaining schedule.
These are the things we tell ourselves when we are denial. They have good average players. They lack top players in the league. Coaching made up for alot of that and now we have Patricia as play caller and oline? How is that even possible? That's like saying Dante Scarnnecia could do both simultaneously.
The thing that is so disappointing are the mental errors. They keep happening. How does godchaux jump offsides? He's your big money tackle. The team lacks major discipline and that's a reflection of coaching. Its been the past few season. What happened to no days off?

Looking back at the drive log, our offense did move the ball a decent amount on all but a few drives. It was still an attrocious outing overall but that is somewhat encouraging and something to build off as we hope to clean things up. Coming off the preseason nightmare I was expecting 3 and outs galore. I wonder how long they can really justify keeping BOurne on the bench if Parker puts up more Harry style statlines, but I feel like getting him into the mix more alone will help alot. I liked how they were creative enough to work Jonnu into the picture a bit but think we could've used some more jet sweeps / reverses / screens for the others. Obviously another big thing was Mac not putting in a very good outing, some really poor throws and decisions. It's definitely a work in progress here and unfortunately our defense, although they did keep us in this one, is still not good enough to "steal" a game it seems while we get there.
Offensive line is where im looking, that and a stud at the opposite end of Judon, that’s severely lacking. Uche, Jennings, or Perkins isn’t the answer.

I'll save my over reactions from week 1 - I've given the team until October to show me what they got.
However one thing that IS NOT an over reaction is the mental errors, lack of preparation. We used to be the team that WOULDN'T beat itself...was always a step ahead... A momentum changing penality ON the Patriots were few and far between.
It's now been the norm for 2 + years. All the other BS we ***** and moan about won't matter if we can't do the easy things right.
We need to get back to basics, get the EASY things right. Don't beat yourself. No dumb penalties. Protect the football.
