The QB also has to have enough pocket presence to either step up, roll out, throw it away or take the sack without a fumble. I agree the OL was an issue on that play but they shouldn’t shoulder all the blame.

Mac was looking Right all the way hope he learns from that play but H Henry was the clueless Offensive player on that particular play.

I am a believer in Mac Jones. I really am. But if Patrick Mahomes had this offensive talent to work with, the Pats would be scoring tons of points. Yes, Mahomes is great, obviously. But the point is that this team DOES have enough offensive talent to be good. I mean, let's not forget.....for all our griping, they finished 9th in offensive DVOA, 7th in OSRS (from pro-football-reference), 6th in points scored, and 15th in yards gained.

With Mac as a rookie, they had one of the better offenses in the league.

If deliberately antagonizing others is healing, GC might want to look at some new forms of healing.

I have never deliberately antagonized anyone on this forum. That's why 95% of the fans here are okay with me. Its only you and a couple others that have an issue with me, and its just because I'm a Bills fan. Its not WHAT i'm saying - it's WHO is saying it. Which is lame.

I’m sure GC would argue he’s not deliberately antagonizing anyone, but IMO, showing up on a rival’s turf, even if the intent is to be friendly, is inherently antagonist to some extent

As Deus Irae said, this is just nuts. Being friendly is antagonistic just because I root for a different football team?

Are you "antagonized" at work because a friendly co-worker roots for the Jets? We are just humans who like different color jerseys.

This is bonkers.

I wont say anything more about this topic. I dont want to ruin this thread anymore than it already has been.

Not sure Mac should have thrown that ball to Parker, but he was expecting Parker to do his contested catch thing but couldn't because he was clearly held while the ball was in the air. Should have been 1st and goal at the 1.

Interesting listening to Zo today. He hated that pass to Parker that was intercepted. He agreed it was PI but said it was an underthrown ball that didn’t have much chance at being completed. He also questioned a lot of the play calling, particularly the outside zone runs and the 3rd and 4 run up the middle when they needed a 1st.

Yep, wrong decision by Mac & Phatt Matt... Under-thrown pass by Mac, should've been placed closer to the corner of the EZ... The DPI would've looked even more egregious if it had been... and Parker didn't fight for the ball as he needed to do...

reiss thinks jonnu was a better option on that pass.

Word out of Miami was that Xavien Howard has had Parker's number for years in practices in Miami. I am not going to get on Parker for this game because he may have just been matched up on a guy who knows him so well. If he has problems this upcoming Sunday getting open like last Sunday, then there might be a concern.
I hope he improves Parker is definitely not off to a good start he made zero effort on that play he didn't sell the DPI. That said better ball placement by Mac and its' Parker or the sidelines. Mac put it where the Defender can make play on the Football no no right here.

Just re-watched the play... He's right...

Mac seems to have developed a decision-making-on-the-road problem.

You tell em Coach cap just posted about that.

Nice to know Jonnu Smith was open for an easy catch go through your progressions Mac. These are the times when I miss #12.

Back spasms for Mac... that's what Gronk was dealing with for a while right?
Gronk had 2 different major back surgeries that contributed to his back spams.

Happens. Brady had a game with 71 yards passing vs miami in miami.

Agreed. If they play Bourne, and whenever Thornton comes back, if he can pickup where he left off, that should really round them out, too.

I'm a believer that this offense is really talented. With good QB play, they will be a good offense. With great-to-excellent QB play, they will be a great-to-excellent offense.

In game 1, Mac was OK. No turnovers that were entirely his fault. High completion %. Seemed to be going through his reads well. Pocket presence could be better. Biggest problem was he missed several throws. Fade to Jonnu. 'Go' to Agholor (which was likely a TD if they hit that; Agholor had a full step and was full stride, no one was going to catch him). The tipped INT was a bit underthrown, but hard to fully blame Mac for that. I'm sure I'm forgetting a few others, too.

For fun, you can calculate how fast a QB throws the ball by watching YouTube highlights, slowing the video to 0.25x speed, and timing in seconds the amount of time from when the ball leaves the QB's hand to when it's caught. Then divide that number you got via timing by four, since the video was moving 4x slower than real-time, and that is the actual time in seconds. Note where the QB released ball and where it was caught to determine yards travelled, and calculate speed. Some throws are easy, because the ball travels in a straight line. Other throws, that move a lot horizontally, require more legwork to figure out actual air yardage travelled. If it's helpful, an NFL field is 53.3 yards wide, and the distance from each hash to the nearest sideline is 23.5 yards.

Mac is normally throwing in a range from 40-50 mph.
Brady is normally throwing in a range from 45-55 mph, and can turn it up to 60 if needed (I believe he's been clocked at 61mph).

Mac doesn't need to get significantly better. He needs to get 15-20% better consistently. His passes that travel at 43 mph need to travel at 48 mph. And his passes that travel at 48 mph, need to travel at 54 mph. Drill mechanics, technique, weight transfer, generating torque from his hips and core, which is setup via good footwork and balance. The guy is 6'2", maybe 6'3" in cleats, with big hands (I believe his hands measured slightly larger than Brady's at the combine, but double-check me on that); he's physically gotten leaner and looks more fit. He's no Josh Allen or Patrick Mahomes, but there's absolutely no physical aptitude / raw arm talent limitation with Mac. It will come down to mechanics, technique, and drilling those until they are habitual and consistent under game conditions. Only time will tell if Mac can elevate his game to that truly great-excellent-elite level.

As opposed to the one with Julio Jones, Chris Godwin and Mike Evans? We just saw Brady on Sunday night.

We also saw Brady lead an offense like this in 2019. It wasn't pretty.

No one is also saying Mac Jones is Brady. This team will improve.

Yep... Uche did on Sunday what he has Always done as soon as the games actually matter: Absolutely ****ing Nothing.
Coach cap you need to come up with a name for Uche or Ouch!
