The problem is who does Bourn play over when the offense is running 2 TE sets?

Agholor by all accounts was open a lot - Mac missed him deep down the sidelines and likely missed him other times as well. Maybe Mac is not seeing the field that well. That ball he rocketed into the back of that LB was inexcusable.

Ty Montgomery might have walked in for a TD on the Agholor fumble and if not definitely would have been inside the red zone

btw was Gesicki inactive? I swear I didn't see him or hear his name all game.

Cleaning out the notebook from Reiss: Some interesting thoughts...The sack on Mac Jones was on Trent Brown, two questionable offensive play calls we know about...2 and 17 and 3rd and 3, Strange wasn't taken out because of a missed assignment, it was pre planned....

He had a catch on the field goal drive.

He said it “looked like” it was on Brown. So he has no other info. It looked to me like HH should have chipped.
When I talk to him later, I'll see if there is any clarification, but he's usually right. Stay tuned.

Do you think these calls deviate much from the sort of thing Bill would want out of those situations in the past? (Other than success)

Because I don't and I actually agree with the thinking.

The 2nd and 17 I think was the worse of the 2. At best I think they were on the cusp of a deep FG. But I think they were playing for a chance at the FG and a better 3rd down situation. Pick up a couple yards and 3rd down becomes manageable and if you fall short maybe you get a long FG. It was right around midfield so it might have still been too long of a kick but I think it was close.

The 3rd down is simple the run possibly picks it up and the D likely is thinking pass. And even if it doesn't get the first it should make fourth a little easier. I like the fact that they are thinking about the fourth down as go for it situation and played it as a 2 down situation.

Do you talk with him regularly? I noticed he quotes your tweets often.

I agree, I think the 2nd and 17 is worse. In fact, if it wasn't for the handoff to Montgomery, I wouldn't have a real issue with the 3rd and 3 knowing you're going for it on 4th. When you have two stud rb's, I'd like for them to touch the ball as much as possible. No offense to Ty, but I want Rham and D. Harris to be given that opportunity.

The 2nd and 17 I see as almost a give up play. I can't remember when that ever worked for more than a 1 or 2 yard gain.

Not regularly, but he's usually good at getting back to me if I reach out to him with a text. A very nice and humble guy. When I send him a tweet, he'll usually respond pretty quickly as well.

3rd and 3 run from the passing back is less predictable but they definitely need Harris getting more touches and certainly want Rham getting more touches than Ty. And I was talking up Ty all summer. But we were also told Harris and Rham will do more in the passing game which I saw little to none of Sunday. I like Ty but if Rham and Harris can do it they should be doing it.

As to 2nd and 17 runs is a six yard gain there something you'll remember or would it have to be a first down run to be memorable? 2nd 17 deserves criticism for what happened on first down not much to complain about with a call tho.

Yeah I've met him a few times through the years he is definitely a nice guy.

Fwiw, Bedard agrees with Ashley and Reiss, so I’m totally in the minority and probably wrong!

The Good:
- Defense overall played well against 2 of the most explosive Wrs in the league
- offense was able to move the ball effectively at times
- run defense looked much improved

The Bad:
- Oline problems that caused a strip sack for TD and got Mac killed
- Turnovers
- Mac with potential nagging back injury
- lost division game
- no Wrs stepping up still besides Meyers (and some wanted to trade him!!)

It’s week 1. We’ve lost 31-0 opening day to a division opponent and still won the SB. We went 2-2 and had that epic KC meltdown that coined the “we’re on to Cincinnati”

We have a 2nd year QB, so comparing him to KC who has a QB on a quarter billion dollar contract and is best in the league is not realistic or productive

Season is a marathon not a sprint.. plenty of good teams lost week 1, turn the page and get better

At least we were competitive against Miami and had opportunities, we just squandered them and had a horrendous turnover for Td

I've been saying for the last year that things would open up for Mac if only he took the easy throw quickly for YAC. Whether it's to Jonnu, Montgomery, etc.

Make those quick short throws for YAC and downfield will open up for you.

We've gone away from the things that made Brady so successful. So many teams are afraid to dink and dunk for some reason.

Watching Josh Allen on Thursday night, it was clear Daboll's stamp was still on that team. Dink and dunk, soften up the D.

Mac will get there; he just needs to emphasize that quick throw mentality.

One thing on that 50/50 ball from hell seems like D Parker had no clue the CB was holding him. Even Mac was in an uproar after the play Parker should have been benched for that no effort whatsoever throw your hand up the refs would have thrown a flag different game.

Let's hope that year two improved Mac shows up on Sunday also better communication along the OL/TE's included limit mental mistakes.

Parker was a huge disappointing with his inability to get separation or get open. Can’t help but get a kick out of the idiot several months ago on here who was claiming Meyers was their clear WR4.

Word out of Miami was that Xavien Howard has had Parker's number for years in practices in Miami. I am not going to get on Parker for this game because he may have just been matched up on a guy who knows him so well. If he has problems this upcoming Sunday getting open like last Sunday, then there might be a concern.
