Aside from all the discussions about bad drafting , brady etc, we also didnt have any consistency in the team or the play. Not to mention the ball didnt bounce our way .We were extremely lucky in some situations in the past so this all evens out at some point. Imagine Dee Ford not jumping offsides or seahawks running in the EZ. Its okay to take the lumps sometimes. Its law of averaages and pats beat it for 20 yrs.

Poor QB play & embarrassing run defense. Sigh.

There will be discussions moving forward how far the pats are off. The pass defense with a tougher schedule held opponents to 17 TDs & 16 INTs (both top 3 in the NFL). Have to make that front 7 respectable & they are right there defensively. The front 7s performances vs the Bills & Dolphins were laughable.

Did Winovich play today? He did not show up in the stat sheet!

He forced Tua into a bad throw on Jackson’s pick. Other than that he didn’t stick out really.

If you look at what the Dolphins did in the second half, they fed Ahmed the ball when he found success and they kept feeding him and he was in great rhythm. Conversely, even with Sony having success running off tackle, McD refused to feed him the ball and often times didn't give him any touches even after some successful runs early in the drives.

Another gripe is when the Phins started pounding the hell out of the defense running the ball. At that point you gotta commit to stop the run. Run blitz, shoot the gaps, do something different. Playing read and react, trying to shed blocks was not doing it at that point (our guys could not shed blocks to save their lives in the second half.) There was a two play sequence in the second half were Duggar actively played downhill and directly stopped the run with no gain, and was involved in stopping the other play because of his aggressiveness. Why didn't he play that type of aggression more often? Why didn't our defense play that type of aggression in the second half?

What's the point in starting Newton the last two games? Might as well play Stid to see what we have and get a proper evaluation vs starting defenses.

This was a first in the Belichick era. Watching a Patriot defense give up. Bad body language. Like watching the year in the 1980s when we lost Andre Tippett in a preseason game vs the Packers.

Don’t blame Belichick the coach. Blame Belichick the GM. Especially if he listens to his offensive coordinator. Years of crappy drafts. Two years ago ignoring the TE position, giving up a lot to get Joejuan Williams

We might start hearing for Josh McDaniels to get fired. He has done very little to adapt the offense to Cam’s limited abilities.
I remember that preseason Packer game. We also lost for the whole season defensive starters Ronnie Lippett (cornerback) and defensive end Garin Varis. The preseason game that destroyed any hope for the regular season.

He didn’t set the edge on several plays, one of which was a 31 yard run.
I don’t think anyone set the edge this game unfortunately. It’s been an issue all year long, can’t set the edge and are soft in the middle. Recipe for a disastrous run defense.

Doesn’t help having someone like Simon who is complete trash at resembling an edge setter. Not that he does anything well

Way too gloomy.
I don't know if it is. Gilmore, Chung, and the McCourty's are on the wrong side of 30 and several are declining. I hate to say it but our best unit has the shortest shelf life. Edelman is our best WR and he's been banged up the last 2 years and has clocked over a decade in at this point. Of the rest of that group, Meyer's and Byrd are the only decent ones and they are more like support pieces. They are like Lafell and Hogan on their best days. You really don't want them to carry the bulk of the load. None of our TE's are worth anything. Our offensive line has had crap depth the last few years. Wynn is good, Thuney however is going to cost something and he's probably gone. We really could use a two more really solid pieces. Our defensive front has some good stuff but really Winovitch is the only standout. They need better run stoppers and an extra rusher or two. Uche is are only good young linebacker imo. Hightower meanwhile is on his way out. We also have a solid special teams. Then we 3 QB's who really aren't worth keeping imo.

This isn't a one year project. This year was all about clearing cap. This could be a 2-3 year thing at a minimum. Don't expect a quick jump back.

It was worse today and so was the tackling. At the end of his second season, Wino should understand this but I think he would rather try to make the tackle than turn the ball carrier inside to the pursuit. He’s certainly not alone in edge busting, which buttresses your point.

Oh, he can play. From what I see, he likes to improv sometimes, like Collins, Samuel.
God forbid he improvises sometimes and doesn’t set the edge one play, then gets taken out for the whole drive. Let the young player learn from his mistakes. Yet, BB will keep trotting out Cam who has hurt this team with his ****ty QB play far more than Wino has hurt the defense.
