PostGame Thread Official Post Game Thread- Cowboys beat the Pats

Immediate Postgame Reactions
Run defense was good, but we couldn't get any pressure all night against that OL. Tough to take. Maybe didn't deserve it, but could have had this one. Real shame.
They got plenty of pressure. The problem is that they only got Pressure and Prescott was able to get out of it to make a play a majority of the time.

1. Mac Jones continues to impress.
2. I like the rotation of Harris and Stephenson.
3. Judon, Barmore, Jackson, Dugger, and Uche make up a promising core on defense.
4. Mac Jones needs more weapons around him. The lack of a 3rd down RB is especially noticeable.
5. We should have given Agholor and Smith’s money to Thuney and Gilmore.

Yeah, the defense did okay against a great offense, but it’s about the hallmark of Belichick’s defenses in the past, which is situational football and making the biggest plays at the most critical times.

They were basically gifted the game when Dallas trailed 29-26 and the offensive lineman got that moronic unsportsmanlike penalty. With just the holding call, it would have been 2nd and 20, but since it was after the play, it was instead 3rd and 25 from the Dallas 45.

That’s a 73 yard field goal from that range, so anything allowed on third down would bring it in closer. For whatever reason, the defense was defending the first down marker 25 yards down the field and gave Prescott a somewhat routine 24 yard throw.

That’s just terrible. The defense needed to be defending 15 yards out as as the yardage line, not 25 yards.

Coaching scared to lose.
They weren't coaching scared either. Or did you miss that they opened up with a deeper pass to Agholor which he dropped? That's an aggressive play call.

It's almost a worse look for the coaching that Mac is playing well by rookie standards and this team is 2-4.

At least if he was struggling you could say the team will be better when the QB turns it around, this is a bad football team who can't seem to win with league average quarterbacking, so the plan is to suck and hope Mac turns elite?

On a positive note Judon is a stud and Mac with a #1 caliber WR will be fun. Also Meyer's continues to impress.

Anyone else tired of feeling like the team/coaches simply aren't prepared? Bolden on 3rd and 1? Pass to Rham in the first drive...then where did that go? Would have been a good spot for it on 3rd and 1...

Defense played well enough to win. The offense's pathetic play calling and confusion cost the game. McDummy is horrible. Mac keeps showing he belongs in the league. Can't help but think he misses his wr's from last year. Bourne/Meyers seem to be on his wavelength.

Stevenson needs more playtime. Tripping over himself in pass pro doesn't help anything. Bolden shouldn't see a damn carry outside garbage time. Harris continues to show he isn't durable enough for 'feature-back' carries. Ribs, a leg, etc. Last year showed the same. It's like he isn't big enough to suffer the beating he inflicts on himself.

What are we at, 3 straight weeks with td's brought back on penalties? Yikes.

That was the ONE call they should have made. Only qualm I had with them otherwise.
They also missed a couple key holding calls on the rare occasions we almost got pressure, but it wasn't enough to blame the loss on the refs.

We lost a shootout and your problem is with the offense?

JC Jackson says this secondary is the real deal and that the 445 passing yards that Dallas rang up were a fluke.

.

Two decent TE’s, Stevenson and Harris… so obviously you run Bolden or throw a 50/50 fade to Agholor when you know you’re going to punt on 4th down anyway.

Welcome to opposite world.

Twice, this is twice now that super conservative decisions have lost us games. First you have the decision to kick a 56 yard field goal in the rain against Tampa and now you have a 4th and 3, obviously if you go for it and don’t get it you give the ball back to Dallas at around midfield but they were shredding the secondary all game long and even if you do punt, it’s probably likely that they’ll drive and at least make a field goal. It just sucks that we were a few plays away from being 5-1 or 4-2 and this team just can’t get it done in big moments. It’s so UN patriot like

How's the conservative play calling worked for us this season? Idiot.

I think most of us would like to see more aggressive play calling, but sorry genius.
You clearly don't have a clue WTF you are talking about. So you shouldn't be calling ANYONE an idiot.

The play calling in OT was aggressive.. Or did you not see the Deep slant that Agholor dropped on 2nd down? That's the coach's fault, according to you.

You also don't seem to understand that Mac has the ability to audible at the line when he wants. He's said as much. SMH.

In that case, they should have given the ball to Costanza

Im just happy we have a QB and something to build on. Didn't expect much this year, things are actually going better than I thought.

What i don't understand is why we spent a record amount on FA to be a 2-4 team. BB and the rest of management obviously over estimated where we could go.

Defense is not the problem; the Dallas O is fantastic - they are up there with Tampa & LA. They can run the ball as well and cause turnovers on D - if they keep Big Mike locked in locker room there is a better than good chance they make the NFCCG.

Mac is fine - playing like the 3rd best QB in this draft. He is holding the ball too long in the pocket, but his ability to come back after that awful Pick 6 was beyond admirable. I think he can be a better than average QB for us
