A win is a win. Mac looked good when he threw the ball in rhythm - anytime he holds the ball, he looks kind of terrible. Would like to see Thorton involved more - the guys is fast and needs to touch the ball more. Patriots are not going to win many games throwing to Myers and Stevenson.
Defense was hot and cold. If the Patriots played against a better QB they would have lost. Wilson is really bad.
Stevenson is a dual threat bellcow beast. Use him. Bring back the FB to help him more. Hope Andrews' concussion was a 1 week thing. Stevenson could have had much more yards.
Don't wanna hear anything about pass defense, those 350 are some of the most empty yards when he throws 3 picks and they are without their best DT and S. Dugger plays Conklin does nothing and it's a 22-3 Pats win
Mac Jones had 1 pick 1 TD and an pick SIX that was called back on a questionable roughing the passer penalty. That was a pretty awful performance. Out of 6 red zone chances he came up with 1 TD.
Nick Folk accounted for 16 points of the Patriots offense! He was our MVP today.
It's really a ****ty performance that emphasizes that for whatever reason Mac Jones + Matt Patricia = sputtering offense.
Our QB WOES will continue until one of those factors changes.
Defense was absolutely on point today. Offense should have scored more but they didn't need to thanks to outstanding defense which turned Zach Wilson back into a Pumpkin!
Zach Wilson's 'threat level' to Patriots defense today.
You seem upset about the fact that MJ is the only QB on the roster with a win against a team with a winning record. Not sure why that angers you so much, but this is expected of your QB1.
Mac can't get all the blame for this. He wasn't great, he made 2 bad throws, but him having to take 6 sacks and throw 20 laterals for WR screens that did nothing is not his fault. The OL sucked. The play calling only proved that Patricia is either schizophrenic or anti-Mac.
And a lot of blame to put on BB too. The decision to just 3&out the entire 4th qtr trying play safe is ridiculous. We won't win another game if that's the offensive game plan.
Agreed, but as they are approxinmately equal, as you imply, and given that Zappe has obviously outplayed Mac this year by any empirical measure, I would insist they have approximately equal opportunities to show what they can do, going forward. This year, after all, is about next year: it's not as if we have any shot at actually winning anything before next year at the earliest.
This isn't last year. Mac has been atrocious with his field vision, mechanics and pocket awareness. This year's Mac jones is going to get killed turning his back to the defense. And that my point PA is so valuable and we can't use it with Mac under center for some reason
You are going to tell me that Mac had a near perfect passer rating on play action last year and now you think he sucks at it and it is all him. You think it has nothing to do with a completely changed offense, an OC who has no experience calling offensive plays, and the Pats rarely call play action for him?
I like zap and mac isn't playing up to hi capability, but im not throwing the towel in on jones for a new shiny object that has played ten quarters of football. Thats a thing ive noticed on this board over the last 15 years or so. All it takes is for a player to under perform and all of a sudden they suck, A good example of this was gronks first year whenhe had 3 fumbles inone game and many posters on here where calling for him to be cut. The same for edelman, and ninkovitch. Theres a group of impatient 'what have you done for me lately' posters
Ok, Ok, agree - even though there’s no such thing as a lousy win, that was one lousy win. BUT, at least we won’t be hanging a “4 & 4” banner like some team we know… Congrats to Coach who now has his sights on passing Shula’s all time winning record!!
Mac showed zero pocket awareness or pocket presence. He needs to perform a LOT better before I'd call him 'good'.
Sure you can say that the OL didn't do him any favors, but he has to know where the pressure is coming from and either dump it off quicker or throw it away to the sidelines to avoid losing yardage if there's no play to be had.
6 red zone opportunities, only 1 TD. That's a 16.7% TD conversion rate. That by definition is BRUTAL offensive efficiency.
We're just lucky that Nick Folk never misses kicks under 50 yards and the defense showed up with their A game today.
On the positives -
1. Rham could be really good. Potential center piece of the offense. Like Kamara.
2. Meyers is a beast. If only Mac could look at anyone else.
3. Pass rush & Secondary showed up today (in periods, with series of bad lapses). Wise & Judon really took over 2nd half. Peppers emerged.
4. Folk is one of the most consistent kickers in the league.
5. Marcus Jones is starting to be exciting as PR
Lot's to like about the win! Especially on defense! However.... Offensive line was horrendous! Has anyone seen hunter Henry? Is he still in the league? For a guy with 10 touchdowns last season he's been an afterthought In the Offense! It is mind blowing that other teams involve their tight ends against us, however we don't..
This team is still trying to piece it all together, we gutted this win today on pride and grit, tough loosing Parker, however I expect to see more from Thornton going forward.. feels like instead of trading a WR we may end up trading for one..
We missed Dugger badly today.. good to see dmac have a great game, he was MIA all season until today.. hope we can get a win at home against the colts they got us last season we owe them one..
Meyers has been healthy the last two games and Parker was healthy last week. Last week it was worse because most of the passes to him in the second half were dump offs because none of the receivers could get open. This week he got more designed plays.
Okay last year he was good. This is a different year, he’s badly regressed. You think Bill cares what he did last year? No, this year he’s been bad, I’m pulling for him though I want him to succeed.
Well there is a thing called Sophomore slump where a player that was good in his first year regresses only to bounce back in their third year. I think that happened with Josh Allen
