What are you seeing that has Zappe with better arm talent than Mac?

I don't see that at all.

I see a guy who flutters long balls and is wildly inaccurate.

He is very good at processing, getting his mechanics right, compact delivery, and putting zip on those short throws.

But we're going nowhere with him.
Nice take, unfortunately the raw numbers don't support your thorough analysis. Unless of course, it's just your biased opinion.

Mac's ANY/A are pathetically low.

Zappe's numbers are well above average and all better than Mac's in every meaningful stat.

Mac's on target % is a joke.

Since everyone loves to read into what Belichick says about Jones. Here is what he said this morning. He clearly blames the offensive line and not Jones for the interception that counted. And he kinda alludes to Meyers being responsible for the pick six that was overturned or at the very least not putting all the blame on Jones.

Personally, I don't take anything as face value Belichick says in any interview, but others do especially when they were convinced that Belichick's words last week was a clear indication he lost faith in Jones. So here it is.

"Zappe can't make NFL throws".

Deep shots, tight windows, boundary/sideline throws, etc. He's an inexperienced player with a lot to work on but I see no reason to believe he's incapable of making NFL throws.

Something is wrong here. Out of all those clips, he was out of the shotgun on 10 of his 11 good, accurate throws. Come on man, that doesn't follow the narrative that he needs PA to be successful and can't throw out of the gun.

Lately you cherrypicked stats and have been called out on it quite a bit, forcing you to backtrack.

The original post said Zappe has shown well against competition with bad defenses. This is getting repetitive though. We said this over and over.

Yesterday Mac through a beauty of a touch pass between 4 defenders. It was completed. The announcers called it a floater, which is absurd.

But numbers don't really tell you about Zappe's jump ball to Devaunte last week, or the throw to a wide open Meyers. These are not what I'd call accurate throws, but the stats will say they are.

If you're not going by what you see, you're a slave to the stat people. During the game we saw a throw that didn't lead Meyers to the direction he was going. If Meyers drops that, we'r blaming Zappe, not Meyers.

That would be an incorrect narrative if someone actually made that narrative. I agree with you there. It is almost as bad as the narrative that doesn't exist and you made up in your head that the Pats have Jones throw more on first downs.

Not sure if anyone mentioned it but I think Jake Bailey might have saved his job for now. Nice rebound game.

He had a really good game yesterday. The one touchback on the punt was a bad call by the refs. Should have been downed at the one. That was All Pro Jake Bailey yesterday.

Zap should've been back at the start of the 2nd half yesterday... Could get ugly, again, in Foxborough this Sunday too...
Fascistly won't like that.

Special teams overall was spectacular I thought. Marcus jones had a big return, j jones forced a wide fg, folk was flawless including from 49 and 52. These things are the difference between winning and losing sometimes, need more of this

How are season total stats for each QB cherry picking? Lol

You sound like every Mac bad play is because of: excuses.

Every Zappe good play is because of: excuses.

You're just not very credible and completely biased. The stats support what everyone is seeing on the field of play. No excuses. Period.

That pick six was a horrendous pass that would have very likely led to a loss yesterday and effectively the end of the Patriots season. Thankfully the officials stepped in with a questionable call and then Zach Wilson happened the rest of the way.

Jones is playing losing football right now and I would imagine his confidence is pretty shaky at this point. I still believe Zappe would give the team a better chance for success this season. Jones isn't playing well enough to get through their December and January schedule with a winning record.

Ok, we all have our opinions, here are the facts,

2021 Mac had a high completion %
Broke rookie records at qb not seen since Marino
Took his team to the playoffs
Came in under an ESTABLISHED offense and creative coordinator
Thrived under that system
2022 - failed coaches were brung back in to the organization asked to perform multiple duties
Offensive scheme was changed, not conducive to your qbs skill set but rather the players around him.

Gets hurt misses time , now working his way back.
Not excusing the give aways but the Offensive line has been bad all year. He showed some stones hanging in there against that ferocious front converting those 3rd downs..

So I ask, who in the draft or out there do you see that can come in this organization and deal with all the factors Mac has had to endure. Donta Hightower said it best not everyone can come in and play for the patriots.
You've apparently forgotten the last 6 games of last year. He didn't suddenly turn into a pumpkin this year. It's an ongoing process.

In fairness to Wynn, most of the o-line got pushed back right into Jones. It was awful protection all around. Wynn just may have been the worst of a really bad bunch on that play.

I am a huge Strange supporter, but he was not good yesterday. Got abused. Hope he learned something.

IF the Jets ever get a decent QB they are in immediate contention. They have some nice pieces to work with and they can bring the heat on D.

Yes, the offensive line totally miss blocks for Jones because they figure Jones sucks anyway. You do realize that Strange was benched for poor play yesterday. Was that Jones' fault. Is Jones so bad that Strange played so bad that Belichick benched him (second time Strange has been benched both with Jones) and put Wynn in at LG? And has Zappe ever played without Andrews under center for the entire game?

But so has Zappe. It's a false narrative. They make it sound like Zappe played mainly PA when the opposite is the truth, the bulk of his plays are out of shotgun. Does he have more UC PA plays than Mac? Yes, that's true, but it could be as simple as getting him used to it in the NFL because he never played UC PA in college. Like never. Not once. His experience was 100% shotgun, yet we have those here saying he can't play out of shotgun. Lol
Where are your numbers for that, according to mine he's been under center more than double the time Mac has

You would think our hall of fame coach would say.. hmmm my defense can't defend any TEs maybe I should use the good one I have... you'd see Mac return to form!
Somehow, Zappe managed to involve them.

I really thought Wynn should have been a guard when he was drafted.

@BaconGrundleCandy What was your thought on this when he was coming out of college?
Me personally, I thought he was an ideal G and had him listed as such in my grades to this day.

That said I thought he was good enough to excel at tackle. It's a more important position. He's athletic and played that position very well in college. Up until recently he was an above average tackle but he's fallen off a cliff as of late.

I have np with any switch just want that player to get enough practice time with the position. It's tough enough nm with little reps and in-season.

Yea he's been a curious case. Definitely a disappointment but hoping it clicks soon. Lot of potential to waste imo.

Just stop. Wilson didn’t lead them to Jack sh*t. The defense won those games despite him.

In those four games, he averaged 173 yards passing per game with one TD and two interceptions (total). He did not have a passing TD in the three games prior to yesterday and in the two games prior to yesterday put up 110 and 121 yards in the air. He has completed 55% of his passes this year, right on pace to match his piss poor 2021 completion percentage.

I knew that he was going to be a bust after I saw his first photographs from rookie minicamp.

That is the photo of a guy who is going to soil himself and throw a horrific panic INT when big bad Matthew Judon is chasing him outside of the pocket.
I can’t really argue with anything you just said, I’m really reaching for positives on defense since the offense is sputtering

That throw to Meyers was the coach's fault.

There was no defender in the middle of the field. Having Jakobi running back toward the LOS when Henry was already there was mindless and dumb. That play needed Jakobi going upfield. There was no defender there. The Jets sold out and got deked by a playfake. They had a spy on Mac, but otherwise, Meyers was free for a TD.

It's Patricia's job to design that play properly.

Have a look at it on replay instead of the freeze frame clip. You'll see wide open space.
You do know that virtually all their plays have been designed for years, right. They don't have Patricia in a back room scribbling up new plays all week.
