Official Pats/Texans post-game thread

Wow. The thread tags are epic. I added "homers vs. chicken littles" and "the ultimate showdown" myself.

I'd just like to apologize to Mo. You're one of the few posters here whose posts I actually read. I was honestly in a pretty foul mood after the game for a number of reasons, the primary one being my game and my viewpoint that, while I knew the starters on offense would probably remain in the game, that I didn't think they should precisely because an injury like the one Welker suffered (which is now sounding like it will threaten next season). It took a gym trip to really calm me down. I'm not going to back down from my main point. I think you're extremely smitten with everything Belichick does and I have still yet to see you be critical of him in ANY situation. However, I will apologize for the way I said it, which was venomous at the very least. You really didn't deserve that.

As for Welker, sounds like it's both a torn MCL and a torn ACL. Not only will this hurt his chances to start and contribute next season, but it will also hurt his career in the long run. Welker's game relies on his ability to get in and out of cuts the quickest way possible. Recovering from a torn MCL and ACL will severely inhibit that... for the rest of his career. We've seen how hard it is for Brady, a quarterback, to recover from it. It's going to be doubly hard for Welker to recover from it... and all for a meaningless game. One in which it would probably be beneficial to us to get the fourth seed. You can call it 20/20 hindsight, you can call it whatever you want. But this is precisely the reason why teams do not like to play their main guys for long, if at all, in the last regular season game when playoff positioning is all but wrapped up.

I never noticed your post, no offense... That said, I have criticized Bill often in my tenure here. Players too. Wanted Faulk gone after Denver in 2005... I've just learned over the years that they do know more about this than any of us keyboard football savants ever will. No team or staff is perfect, but compared to the alternatives I'll take IBBWT any day. Even if I don't agree with every move he makes, given time and perspective I can usually find a rationale that makes me feel silly for even questioning it. I've wanted an upgraded OL since 2005. And better WR's (although not necessarily a $9M one). But I understand there are other needs as well, and injuries happen and you cannot account for circumstance that arise. Hell, guys in their 30's have strokes...others get greedy or lazy...some draft picks astound you while others are crashing disappointments. You will find similar situations on most every other team in the league, although not nearly in conjunction with as comforting a track record. In the end this team has compiled the second best regular season record in this decade on Bill's watch, and I wouldn't trade places with the first place team even if they could find a way to win two more SB's in the lone remaining year in the decade.

You youngsters would do well to study what he does as opposed to critiquing it...you'll learn more and maybe even begin to enjoy the journey in the process, as Junior calls it. No team wins all the time and few teams have won more.

But I know I'm wasting keystrokes attempting to explain any of this to you because you determined you were right and Bill is wrong some time ago...when Seymour was traded I believe...

Actually, I'm able to see both good and bad in the coach. You should give that a try instead of just serving as his rubber stamp.

And when will this person ever justify the reason behind his user name(MoLewisRocks)? This is now the 3rd or 4th time I've called him out about his disturbing name without an answer. He glorifies a person that almost killed Drew Bledsoe. Does anybody else on this board notice this?

what can be said is how the Texans defense went after them in the second half was markedly different than how they handled the Patriots before the break.

"We had to double two guys, and now you can focus on doubling one guy, and that was Randy," Texans corner Dunta Robinson said. "We could breathe a little bit easier, knowing we had to take one guy out of the offense instead of two guys. Yeah, some things did change.

"Now we can pressure Tom a little bit more. Now we can do some things that maybe they couldn’t do with both those guys on the field. The game plan definitely changed when he went down. ... It pretty much happened at the half. Anytime you lose a player like that, I mean, wow, you’re taking away a lot of your offense. It’s like us losing Andre. Definitely a big blow."

Moss just became pretty important - Extra Points - Boston.com

That's lost because a player who didn't need to get reps blew out his knee in a "meangingless" game when he could have been watching his understudy getting reps.

But, yeah, let's bash the people who question why Welker was on the field.

Brilliant.

The Pats defense folded like a tent again, talk about pathetic.......maybe the offense will learn to play SIXTY MINUTES NEXT YEAR.

Today I was total disgusted watching this team fold AGAIN, and give those losers a playoff shot and their 1st winning season.........
