Still think we win this game. They'll make some adjustments (aka stop running the ball up the gut and spread them out, maybe put some damn pressure on Wilson) but they need to correct the attitude real quick. Zero fire right now. Come on boys
I have to wonder if it's the style of defense. Most players want to attack, but they've been stuck in a near-straitjacket all season with all the mobile/"virgin to BB defenses" QBs they've played.
They need to play man to man more in the second half. I said before this game that you can't simply contain and play Cover-3 against Wilson anymore. He's improved as a pocket passer and can kill you from there. The result thus far has been them keeping Brady on the sideline with long drives and they're on pace for 500 yards of total offense.
Basically said that New England needs to stop being so conservative. Defensively they need to stop playing scared and offensively they need to spread it out and stop trying to run on the Seahawks.
Seattle's defense most resembles Baltimore in their prime, and the one thing you could never do on Baltimore was run the ball, period. They're too good at stopping that.
Defensively, what Rodney is eluding to is to change it up and go man-to-man. If you're going to get beat, might as well put some actual pressure to force mistakes by Wilson.
I still think this Seattle defense is fundamentally a better defense than Denver, as great as both defenses are. Seattle tackles better, and doesn't get beat on big plays as often. Denver is built on the pressure from the outside with Miller and Ware. Their secondary while held in high esteem, is rightfully flagged often for basically mugging receivers. You can also run up the middle on Denver, something you cannot do against Seattle.
1. Run defense is the most disappointing thing for me. However it could be by design. We are playing all pass defense and seemingly giving up the run. That will have to stop this half time
2. I also think we need to play tighter in our zones Too often we are letting Wilson get a lot of yardage in those come back routes. Including that last drive for the end of half TD. How pitiful.
3. It's one thing to play soft and not allow the deep play It's another to play soft and allow 20-25 yd come back completions.
4. The Pats will win this game if the defense can hold Seattle to 10 points in the 2nd half.
5. Brady needs to throw the dump off pass to RB's in the flat when the deep shots aren't there. He missed a wide open guy in the flat on his pick. That being said, Mitchell was open deep. Which is ironic. How often has Tom over thrown those deep guys. This was was about 10 yard short and a pop up at that. It was certainly worthy of a pick.
6. I would like to hit the hole faster on those running plays.
7. Like I said in the thread. The team lacks some life out there tonight. Not the same intensity we've seen before the break.
Only issue I have, Ken is that Blount wasn't actually open. If you watch the Replay, Brady pump-faked as if to go to Blount and Wagner was RIGHT there. He's have picked it or knocked it down at the very least. Brady should have thrown the ball into the ground instead of trying for Mitchell.
This first series after the half will be telling on D. If we can stop them without them scoring we are in good shape. If it looks like the first half... well...
